It is our great pleasure to organize the national level seminar “Nano
Science and its Application” at Fakir Chand College, Diamond Harbour.
We feel an extensive discussion in this subject matter among our eminent
resource persons and participants surely be proved as an effective platform
to enhance knowledge in this new branch of science and technology.
We are deeply indebted to our Teacher-In-Charge, respected
members of our Governing Body and the Principal, Sarsuna College for
their constant support and inspiration to organize the seminar. We have the
privilege to convey our heartfelt thanks to respected speakers, and members
of the advisory committee for their moral support and valuable advices to
organize the seminar. We are also thankful to all our faculty members and
non-teaching staff members for their help and suggestions. We thank the
delegates from different academic institutions and our beloved students
whose dignified presence made the seminar a great success.
A special note of thanks should also be recorded in favour of our
departmental colleagues Dr. Prajnamoy Pal, Dr. Tapas Kumar Mandal, Dr.
Soumitra Mandal, Mr. Rabin Kr. Sardar, Mr. Swapan Kr. Mandal and Mr.
Barun Kr. Pramanik for their invaluable support and cooperation.
We would also like to acknowledge University Grant Commission
(UGC), Government of India for their financial assistance to conduct this
national level seminar.

MESSAGE
It is a great pleasure to all of us that our Department of Chemistry is
going to organize a National Level Seminar on a very significant topic
“Nano Science and its Application” with the financial assistance of
University Grants Commission.
Nano science is the study of phenomenon and manipulation of
materials at atomic, molecular and macro-molecular scales, where
properties differ significantly from those at a larger scale. Nanomaterials
have of late attracted considerable attention due to their unique properties
and wide range of applications. Using nanotechnology, we can control
molecules at an atomic level and create materials with unique properties.
Nano lithography is useful in masks for circuits, biosensor arrays, cell
adhesion, motility, and orientation studies. In future it may dealt with solar
technology, medical nanomaterials, consumer products, water treatment
and various other research product and process.
I think a national seminar is the easiest platform in an undergraduate
college where the teachers and students can meet some of the pioneers in
this field and get enriched from them about how they, as well as, the whole
world are fabricating nanomaterials through modern technology.
I personally and on behalf of the entire Fakir Chand College family
cordially welcome all distinguished guests and participants and wish all
success to the organizers with a hope that the programme will invoke some
new dimensions of Nano Science among all the participants.
