Thank you to the Lions Club for enabling our students to participate in such a worthy project. I would like to especially thank David Dent who expertly co-ordinated the Public Speaking program. • Indonesian Cultural Day - On Thursday Preps to Grade 4 from Kerang Primary School will be joining us for an

Indonesian Cultural Day at Lake Charm Primary. The day will involve lots of culture, language, games and cooking.

Healthy October - During the month of October Lake Charm Primary will be promoting Health through daily morning

walks (or runs) and healthy eating. On the 23rd of October Lake Charm will combine with Quambatook Group School

for A Walk To School Activity organised through Vic Health and the Gannawarra Shire. At school our students will be

investigating healthy eating. Students and teachers will be creating healthy lunches and everyone will be encouraged

to consume lots of fruit and vegetables. Fruity Fridays will be back!

Summer Uniform - Please ensure your children’s school uniforms, including hats, have their names on them. This

makes the job of returning lost or discarded property much easier. As is the custom, broad brimmed hats will be

compulsory for wear in Term 4, although we have already been encouraging the children to wear them. As the

weather warms up, shorts and a polo (collared) top would great as these offer the best protection from the sun.

Chook House - The chook house looks absolutely fabulous. Thank you to Peter and the Chook Club for all your work.

I can’t wait to see the first chooks arrive and taste that first Lake

    Charm egg.

Craft Club - The Craft Club has morphed into a Variety Club. This

week we started a Lake Charm bird survey and are making a

Power Point presentation to display our local birds.

Footy Day – This Friday we will have the annual Lake Charm

footy day. Mr. M and Mr. Sait have been training hard for this

event (and I look forward to carrying the oranges). Orders for

lunch went home yesterday and need to be back tomorrow

(Thursday). Footy will kick off at around 11.30am.

Lunch Orders - Hopefully lunch orders will be commencing at the

start of next term. Orders will need to be in by Monday

mornings so we can get them to Rod. Lunches will be available on

Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please write the student’s name and order on an envelope and enclose the money.

    Jeff Millard

Student Voice Birthdays – A big Happy Birthday to Tegan who celebrated her 11th birthday on Monday. We all hope she had a lovely day and weekend!

Student Award – Congratulations to the 4 well deserving recipients of the coveted Student Award this week!

Erin Cuthbert – For her excellent effort with her literacy

Jukal Webster – For his everlasting enthusiasm towards all aspects of school.

Katrina McFarlane – For all her work helping us out during our clubs program with a great craft group.

Peter Cordina – For all his work outside, helping us out with our clubs program.

We are very thankful for the efforts of Peter & Katrina who have given up their Tuesday afternoons. Without them we couldn’t have put on such a vibrant clubs program!

  • Polycom Videoconferencing – Throughout 2015 we’ve used the Polycom system regularly to take advantage of sessions that are applicable to us. We will continue this into the future with the addition of sessions between schools; some examples may include Indonesian sessions with Kerang Primary and Cultural exchanges with Mrs. Hogg in China. Yesterday we joined into a Marine Biodiversity session with the Manly Environment Centre in Sydney with 6 other schools! It was great to hear from an expert in this field and it fitted in well with our work on Endangered/Extinct species. These experiences prove that we truly global citizens.

Classroom HappeningsThe Preps to 6 have been studying Australian Extinct Animals. Students have been researching and reporting on their

selected animal, ranging from dinosaurs that died out over 65 million years ago, to Megafauna such as Megalania, a

giant 7 metres long lizard and giant kangaroos that became extinct during the last 20000 years, to more recent

extinctions such as the Thylacine and Lesser Bilby.

Over the last two weeks we have been conducting the Great Lake Charm Spelling Bee. At this stage the leaders are

Jack and Tegan, but they are under constant pressure from other challengers in the classroom, who are always trying

to knock them off the leader board.

FUNDRAISINGWoolies Earn and Learn has now finished Stickers have been counted and returned. Our total was 7560 which includes stickers from our box in Safeway and our school box. Mr Millard and Mr Sait can now start preparing a wishlist of what to spend them on. Future Events We will be holding a Trivia night on 17th October, start organising your tables of 10 now. Cost will be $15.00 per person, loads of prizes and fun on the night. These nights are a lot of fun as well as raising much needed funds for our school.

Pop-up Market will be held on 29th November.
