2. 強弱機危分析 SWOT Analysis
強項/機會 Strength & opportunities 弱項/危機 Weakness & threat
Subject Teacher 本科老師
1. The Department has a panel of
experienced, well-trained and
benchmarked teachers.
2. Expertise and professional advice from
our School NET is available.
3. Support from the teaching assistant can
help out with the preparation of
teaching materials and running of
activities.
Subject Teacher 本科老師
1. Most English teachers have no experience
in marking TSA and DSE papers.
2. Most English teaches are not familiar
with the online platform available and
how that could help with teaching and
learning.
3. All teachers are burdened with some
other administrative plus non-teaching
duties, which might trade off teachers’
time in and devotion to the teaching job.
2
Our Students 本校學生
1. Some NAC are eager to learn English.
Resources in School 本校資源
1. The IT team is providing advice and
assistance to facilitate the use of
multi-media in language teaching and
learning.
2. All English teachers teach 2 English
classes and more lessons are allocated
for English Language.
3. English teachers do not need to teach
other subjects in the school.
4. The extra grant gained from the Project
WeCan, enables the English Department
to organize various activities and
programmes for our students; 10
overseas study tour scholarship will be
offered to students to motivate them to
work hard on English.
5. Generous support from HSBC,
American Women’s Association and The
Boy’s and Girl’s Clubs Association of
Hong Kong in organizing activities for
our junior and senior form students may
help students better prepare for the
HKDSE.
Our Students 本校學生
1. Secondary 1 intake is mostly from the
bottom of band 3 and the majority has a
poor foundation in English.
2. As Chinese is the medium of instruction,
students’ exposure to English is very
limited.
3. A number of students have family
problems and emotional problems, which
often leads to discipline problems in class
and thus hinders the progress of teaching
and learning.
4. Most students in general are dependent
and passive learners and show little or
even no motivation towards learning
English.
5. Most students are basically weak in
listening and speaking and reluctant to
read or write in English.
Resources in school 資源方面
1. The English Corner is practically too
small to hold any English activities with
more than 10 participants.
2. Some of the computers and other
facilities in the MMLC are worn out.
3. Learner diversity plus large class size is
minimising the effectiveness of teaching
and learning.
3. 本年度工作目標 Objectives:
1. To revise and refine the school-based curriculum according to students’ ability, needs and interests.
2. To cater for learner diversity through developing diversified and graded learning tasks and activities
3. To develop students’ confidence in using English for classroom communication through collaborative learning, role-play and group discussions
4. To strengthen students’ vocabulary building skills through frequent dictation 5. To strengthen the teaching of grammar in context 6. To incorporate language arts into the junior curriculum 7. To maximise students’ exposure to a wide range of text-types 8. To develop a ‘reading to learn’ culture 9. To adopt diversified teaching methodologies in cooperative learning 10. To promote independent learning through Moodle and help students apply the
knowledge and skills of English through the integrated use of the language 11. To strengthen the learning-teaching-assessment cycle 12. To create a language-rich environment
