We are very grateful to Frank and Isobel Moran, Angela Roberts, Cathy Cox and Uncle Bill O’Brien for their involvement and wisdom. Friday 30 July was a great experience for our students who had the opportunity to hear about Aboriginal culture from our local

Principal’s Report

BAGO Education Week Awards

Last Wednesday night the BAGO Community Of Schools, Wauchope Public, Beechwood Public, Rollands Plains Public, Comboyne Public, Long Flat Public, Byabarra Public and Wauchope High held our inaugural Education Week Awards. The evening provided an opportunity for each of the schools to recognise the special contribution made to it by dedicated students, community members, non-teaching and teaching staff.

Each school was provided with a restricted number of certificates to award and I would like to take this opportunity to recognise and thank our 9 award winners for the special and significant contribution they make to Wauchope High School.

All of these people have made and continue to make a very significant contribution to Wauchope High School and it was a delight to be able to acknowledge and thank them.

SAS Staff Recognition Week

Each year all NSW public schools take time out of their busy calendar to recognise and celebrate the vital role played by their School Administrative Staff.

At Wauchope High School we are very proud of the magnificent efforts made by the staff members who maintain our buildings, grounds & Agriculture Farm; those who assist students with learning difficulties; ensure our kitchens and library are well serviced; look after student laptops; maintain our printing and communications and ensure the smooth running of the administrative and financial matters in the school.

Ours is a large and complex school and it takes a lot of dedication and hard work to make it the welcoming and efficient organisation that it is. We look forward to celebrating SAS week between August 16 and 20 and thank our non teaching staff for their dedication and the important role that they play in ensuring the smooth running of our school.

Mr Robert Henry (Principal)

Did you know? One of our students was accepted for the National Youth Science Forum which will be held in

Canberra in January. She had to demonstrate how a piece

of scientific equipment worked (hers was a barometer) as

part of the selection process in front of a Rotary Club panel.

Well done !!!!

A VALIANT END TO WOMEN”S FOOTBALL CHALLENGES

Mr Rod Davison and Ms Jo Jones have both worked hard

with the talented students of Wauchope High throughout

the U15’s and Open Girls Soccer season this year. Both

teams won through to the State competition. We are all

very proud of both teams efforts. Well done.

COWS CREATE CAREERS 2010

The cows are in. The students are working hard and

making notes. The Dairy Australia Industry sponsored COWS CREATE CAREERS competition for

this year is on. A number of smaller businesses also

are part sponsors. A big thanks to Geoff and Tracey

Stokes of Tom’s Creek who have lent their young cows to WHS for the third year running for this project

.Year 9 Agriculture students at the high school will try to

recreate their success of WHS over the past few years

as well as develop skills that could lead to their future

careers.

WHS Girls Open Soccer winning streak comes to an end...

Despite an outstanding effort, which saw us lead 1-0 in the first

half, Caringbah High School were able to capitalise on an

opportunity, taking the score to 1 a piece as the half time siren

sounded.

The second half saw our girls put tremendous pressure on their

goalie, with three shots hitting the crossbar and deflecting, two

others sailed above the crossbar. With only seven minutes

remaining, their striker broke through our defence, slotting the

winning goal into the back of the net.

This game was a nail biter to the end!....

We will be back to face off against them next year!

GATS DAY AT WHS

A number of students from WHS’s feeder primary schools were

invited to participate in a Gifted and Talented Day recently. Above,

one of the students discovers the exciting impact of electrostatic

electricity from the Van der Graff generator in the Science session.

GOODBYE BOB AFTER 17 YEARS!!

After 17 years at Wauchope High, Bob who was a member of the

cleaning staff, has taken up another position in Tamworth. Every-

one will miss this character who interacted with both students and

staff every day and will be remembered for his humour and wit

around the school.

An energetic programme and positive atmosphere provided a charged and appreciative inaugural

Bago Community of School Education Week Presentation Night last week. Wauchope High School and its feeder schools, Wauchope Primary, Beechwood, Comboyne, Byabarra, Huntingdon, Rollands Plains and Long Flat Public Schools form the Bago Community of Schools. Together they were

joined by Robert Oakeshott and School Education Director of Port Macquarie, Mr Mark Youngblutt. From Wauchope High a selection from the continuing excellence from all the staff and students at

the high school were presented with awards
