(Formerly AES Lalpir), 700 MW IPP Working as Operation Engineer / Shift Engineer Lalpir/Pakgen Power Ltd. is one of the largest Mono Block TPS in Pakistan with 1200*2 t/h steam generation capacity forced draft boilers from MHI, 365*2 MW Steam turbine driven electric generators, 35000*2 m3/h circulation capacity cooling towers, 1023*2 m3/h pretreatment plants. My Key Responsibilities at Lalpir/Pakgen Power Ltd. Safe and smooth operation of 365*2 MW hydrogen cooled turbo generators, 1200*2 T/h capacity forced circulation oil fired boilers, VVVFD operated BFW pumps, condensate pumps, feed water heaters and Cooling Towers in order to meet WAPDA dispatch demands as per requirements of “Power Purchase Agreement”. Operate the unit effectively as per NPCC demands so that no “Liquated Damages” are incurred. Create Daily Plant Performance reports and keep top management updated about plant status. Participate in performance tests of unit as per ASME PTC 4, 6 and 46 and other guidelines provided by OEM i.e. “Mitsubishi Heavy Industries”. Coordinate with other departments like E&I and Mechanical Maintenance during shutdown for timely execution of jobs and to make unit ready within allowed and agreed outage time span. Safe and smooth startup of plant after planned or forced outage in order to bring the unit in production within planned startup time. Keep monitoring key performance indicators of plant and put efforts to bring them within range. Keep all effluents within NEQS Limits. Highest Qualification B.Sc. My Key Responsibilities at Lalpir/Pakgen Power Ltd.

team ownership and hand over the equipments after performing all necessary isolations as per LOTO procedure.

Conduct plant internal audits of EMS and OHSAS 18001 for better results in external audits and plant performance.Major achievements at Lalpir/Pakgen Power Ltd.

Performance tests of units for evaluation of Heat Rate and Efficiency. Conducted Internal Audit of EMS and OHSAS 18001 and also coordinated for third party Audit. Attended NALCO conference on Reverse Osmosis held at Pearl Continental Hotel Lahore. Performed cost benefit analysis between surface water and ground water usage.

Highest Qualification B.Sc. Chemical Engineering from UET Lahore.

Utilities Section of Pakarab Fertilizers limited includes 03 GE 10/1 Gas Turbines each of rating 11.3 MW working in Cogeneration Mode with 03 HRSGs from UMAG each of steam generation capacity 50 T/h, Cooling Towers with 40,000m3/h circulation capacity, Water Demineralization Plant of 4800 m3/day capacity working on ion exchange principle, Instrument and plant air section equipped with Pressure Swing & temperature swing adsorbers & 03 RP compressors of Worthington Company & 01 CF compressor of FS ELLIOT Company, 1200 m3/h firefighting water system of Kellogg International cooperation, Electric Load Management System from SIEMENS for efficient load management and 3.0 MW Gas Engine driven Electric Generators.

My Key Responsibilities at UTILITIES Plant of PFL.

Close monitoring of utilities distribution network for any abnormality and troubleshooting at utilities producing sections i.e. Demin. Plant, Cooling Tower, Instrument air compressors, Gas Turbine and HRSGs.

Implementation of CFR 119.110 “Process safety Management” in day to day activities. Close liaison with Ammonia, Urea, Nitric acid, NP and CAN plants for uninterrupted supply of utilities. Startup and shutdown of plant in smooth and safe way as per SOPs developed. Coordination with E&I, Mechanical and Process Engineers regarding issues and developments on plant. Preparation of Daily Production Report using OPM (Oracle Process Manufacturing). Follow-up of maintenance activities using eAM. Preparation of Equipments for maintenance, i.e. process and electrical isolations for 100% compliance

with “Permit to Work system” for the jobs to be done in safest way. Implementation of all work instructions provided by vendors. Monitoring of cooling water chemistry and to adjust the chemicals dosing i.e. chlorine, nitric acid and

other chemicals provided by GE Water & Process Technologies. Monitoring and troubleshooting of BFW Plant and adjust chemicals for boiler water conditioning. Keep all the plant effluents within NEQS limits. Carry out Test Runs of all standby Equipments to ensure their reliability. Give suggestions for improvement in plant and to write service Requests for Implementation. Preparation of shutdown job list on “ever green” basis. Conduct plant safety audit in light of DUPONT STOP series for rectification of unsafe acts, conditions etc. Organize “D” level meetings i.e. safety talks on weekly basis to get feedback from staff employees. Cross sectional Skill certification of staff employees on different sections as per TNA.

Major contributions and achievements at UTILITIES Plant of PFL

Commissioning of 3300 CFM capacity centrifugal compressor of FS Elliot Company. Revamp of New cooling Tower, Fills replacement. Training of Plant Personnel on “ Emergency Response and Planning” Worked as PSRM coordinator regarding training and implementation of standard. Revision of Startup check lists of all sections also developed startup check list for Demin. Plant. Training of Trade Apprentices on Demin, Gas turbine and HRSG sections. Obtained 100% score in PTW competency based test. Mothballing of 03 Boilers in order to preserve them against corrosion and external contaminations. Development of operational guidelines for rental gas generators. Control of Ammonia in liquid effluent in compliant with NEQS.

Pakamerican fertilizers limited consist of three sections Ammonia, Urea and Utilities. I worked at Ammonia section and my project was to perform material balance of Benfield Section.

July 2008 to August 2008 ICI Paints business Pakistan (Now AkzoNobel)

ICI paints business is the largest paints manufacturing facility in Pakistan and mainly produces Water Emulsions, Enamel, wood protection paints and primers for vehicles.

I was assigned to develop a report on the major shortcomings in production processes and to give improvement plan for production facility.
