The teachers are pleased to reconnect with the children in the classroom and I am sure the children have enjoyed catching up with their teachers and friends. That said, things have changed and we need to do some things differently for a while. We will need to work together to make sure we are keeping students, teachers and families safe. We are very grateful for your co-operation with all the structures that have been put in place. Please be aware that the Department of Education has informed us that we now return to regular roll marking procedures. If students do not attend school, you must explain their absence as soon as possible, either by phone or in writing. If you are concerned about your child returning to school at the moment due to COVID-19, you will need to have a medical certificate to explain their absence, otherwise the absence will be marked as unjustified. If you have concerns regarding attendance please phone the school. Please note, the home learning packs have now ceased as it is expected that all children attend school. We are very excited to watch the progress of our new mural. This mural has been funded by the Linking Schools in the Early Years project and we are grateful for their generosity. Local artist, Chloe Hargreaves, worked with some of the teachers on the design which depicts our learner dispositions, as voted on by students, parents and teachers last year. I look forward to sharing the finished product with you next week. Kind Regards Narelle Kessey

Message from the Principal… Dear Parents and Carers

We are delighted to welcome all our students back to Nabiac PS today. The teachers are pleased to reconnect

with the children in the classroom and I am sure the children have enjoyed catching up with their teachers and

friends.

That said, things have changed and we need to do some things differently for a while. We will need to work

together to make sure we are keeping students, teachers and families safe. Please read the newsletter carefully

and keep an eye on our Facebook page for updates as to the processes in place at the school. We are very grateful

for your co-operation with all the structures that have been put in place.

Please be aware that the Department of Education has informed us that we now return to regular roll marking

procedures. If students do not attend school, you must explain their absence as soon as possible, either by phone

or in writing. If you are concerned about your child returning to school at the moment due to COVID-19, you will

need to have a medical certificate to explain their absence, otherwise the absence will be marked as unjustified.

If you have concerns regarding attendance please phone the school. Please note, the home learning packs have

now ceased as it is expected that all children attend school.

We are very excited to watch the progress of our new mural. This mural has been funded by the Linking Schools

in the Early Years project and we are grateful for their generosity. Local artist, Chloe Hargreaves, worked with

some of the teachers on the design which depicts our learner dispositions, as voted on by students, parents and

teachers last year. I look forward to sharing the finished product with you next week.

Kind Regards

Narelle Kessey

Unwell children

As we resume full student attendance, it is essential, that your children stay at home, even if only mildly unwell.

If your child comes to school and is unwell, or becomes ill during the day, you will be contacted and asked to pick

them up immediately. Please make sure you inform the school if your child is unwell.

Newsletter by email

During the reduced attendance at school, it has become more important for us to be able to keep families

informed of changes electronically. If you do not already receive the weekly newsletter via email, please phone

the school with your email address and we will add you to the mailing list. It is also vital that we have current

contact details for all families, including emergency contacts. Attached to the newsletter today is our

CONFIRMATION/CHANGE OF DETAILS form. We are asking that everyone complete this so that we can double

check that our records are accurate.

Canteen

The canteen is open Monday to Friday. There is a reduced menu and only ordered food will be available. There

will be no over the counter sales. The canteen will only operate during morning break.

Parents onsite

We have been requested by the Department of Education to continue to limit the access of parents to the school

site. While students do not need to physically distance, adults do, so parents not coming on site helps us to manage

this more effectively. If you need to communicate with the staff at the school, please phone or email and we will

ensure you receive a response as soon as possible. Uniforms can also be ordered over the phone.

Thank you for your understanding with the drop off and pick up arrangements. The arrangements are outlined

below again for your information.

Morning Drop off – Please use the “Kiss and Drop”, the Hoskins St gate or the main gate. There will be teachers

at both gates so you can say goodbye to your children at the gate and the teachers will supervise them as they

enter the school.

Afternoon pick up- We request you wait for your children outside the gate. Class teachers will walk the K – 2

children to the Hoskins St gate and 3 - 6 students to the driveway gate in Clarkson St. Families with students in

both age groups will exit the gate of the youngest student (Eg if you have children in Year 1, and 3, they will exit

from the Hoskins St gate). The main gate will be used for students catching buses. We ask that you meet your

children on the footpath outside the school and supervise them crossing the road if necessary.

Student equipment

The children need to bring the following to school every day:

All their own food and drinks (unless ordering for morning break). Food and drinks are not to be

shared. Water bottles may be filled from taps. Bubblers will not be used.

Their own pens, pencils etc. Students will not be able to share this equipment. Some students have

their equipment still at school from last term.

Please note that classroom equipment such as electronic devices, books, teaching resources are disinfected by

staff after use in the classrooms. Students will also wash/sanitise their hands at regular intervals during the

day.

Birthday Cakes

We all love birthday cake and many of our children enjoy bringing birthday cakes to share with their friends.

Unfortunately, for the time being we will not be able to allow this to happen. Hopefully this will not be for too

long. Your understanding is appreciated.
