Page 4: Naat Lyrics and Meaning

Hum ko bulana Ya RasulallahHum ko bulana Ya Habiballah

Please invite us oh Messenger of Allah! Please invite us oh Beloved of Allah!

Kabhi to sabz gumbad ka ujaala hum bhi dekhengeHum-e bulwayenge aaqa Madinah hum bhi dekhenge

Perhaps one day we too shall behold that luminous green DomeOur master will invite us to Madinah and we too shall see

Dharak uthega dil ya dharakna bhool jayegaDil-e-bismil ka uss dar par tamasha hum bhi dekhenge

This heart will beat so rapidly or even forget to beat at all!We shall behold the longing of our hearts on that doorstep

Adab se haath baandhe unke rawze par khare hoongeSunehri jaliyon ka yun nazara hum bhi dekhenge

With our hands held respectfully at his resting place we will standIn this way we shall set our sights upon the golden sheaths and

we too shall see

Dar-e-dawlat se lawtaya nahin jaata koi khaaliWahan khayrat ka batna khudaya hum bhi dekhenge

For the one who arrives at the abode of wealth shall never leaveempty-handed

Perhaps there we too shall witness this bounty one day

Barasti gumbad-e-khizra se takrati huwi bundheWahan par shaan se baarish barasna hum bhi dekhenge

The falling raindrops that cascade upon the green DomeThe place where rain falls with dignity one day we too shall see

Guzaare raat din apne isi umeed par humneKissi din to jamal-e-ru e zeba hum bhi dekhenge

Days and nights have been spent in this very anticipationPerchance one of these days we too shall see that beautiful, graceful soul

Dum-e-rukhsat qadam man bharke hain mehsoos karte heKisse he jaake lawt aane ka yaara hum bhi dekhenge

The beating of this heart as it leaves those steps I can feel wholeheartedlySome must go and return, and this too we shall see

Pohonch jayenge jiss din e ujaagar unke qadmon meKisse kehte hain jannat ka nazara hum bhi dekhenge

We will reach the day when we will appear before his Blessed feetWhat they describe as a Heavenly sight, perhaps one day we too shall see

Hum ko bulana Ya RasulallahHum ko bulana Ya Habiballah

Please invite us oh Messenger of Allah! Please invite us oh Beloved of Allah!

Mawla ya salli wa sallim

Page 5: Naat Lyrics and Meaning

Mawla ya salli wa sallim daa'iman, abadann 'Ala habeebika khayri khalqi kullihimi.

O Mawla (Protector, Allah), send prayers and peace always & forever Upon Your Beloved, the Best of all of Creation.

Muhammadun sayyidul kawnayni wath-thaqalayn, Wal fareeqayni min 'urbiw-wa min 'ajami.

Muhammad is the Sayyid (Master) of the two worlds and the two groups (men and jinn),

And the Guide of both the Arabs and the non-Arabs.

Nabiyyunal amirun-nahi fala ahadun, Abarra fi qawli la minhu wa la na'ami.

He is our Prophet, commanding the right and forbidding the wrong, and there is none

More true in saying "Yes" (permitting something) or "No" (forbidding something).

Huwal habeebul-ladhee turja shafaa'atuhu Li kulli hawlim-minal ahwali muqutahimi.

He is the Habib (Beloved) of the One, from whom we have hopes of intercession (shafa)

From all the woes that have descended upon the humans.

Da'a ilallahi fal mustamsi koona bihi Mustamsi koona bi hablin ghayri munfasimi.

He called us to the path of Allah, and those who cling to him Have held the rope of Allah so tight, that it would never break.

Faqan nabiyyina fi khalqiw-wa fi khuluqin Wa lam yudaanuhu fi 'ilmiw-wa la karami.

He surpasses all the Prophets in khalq (creation/external appearance) and in khuluq (characters/internal apprearance)

None could reach his rank in knowledge (ilm) and in generosity (karam).

Famablaghul 'ilmi feehi annahu basharun Wa annahu khayru khalqillahi kullihimi.

Our utmost knowledge about him says that he is a Bashar (human being) He is the most distinguished and the best of all of Creation.

The slaves of Muhammad can be identified from afarWith hearts enraptured, enraptured and heads devoted, devoted!

After having reached Madinah I've learnt what ‘holy’ really meansThe air so purified, so purified, the atmosphere so reverent, so reverent

My eyesight is gone but my insight is still intactI have seen Madinah but it still remains unseen, unseen!

Page 8: Naat Lyrics and Meaning

O visitors to Madinah! Go in the protection of AllahSome day I too will have a bed in Madinah

When you see the Blessed Tomb in Madinah

Madina iss liye Attar jaano dil se hai pyara Ke rehte hai mere Aaqa mere dilbar Madine mein

Attar loves Madinah more than his life because

There resides my Master , my Beloved, in Madinah

Aj Sik Mitraan

Aj sik mitraan dee vadheri ay kyoon dilri udaas ghaneri ay

loon loon vich shawq changeri ay aj nainaan laiyaan kyon jhariyaan!

Why is the yearning for the Loved One (Rasulallah ) especially strong today? Why is my heart sadder today than even before?

Why does longing penetrate every tissue of mine? And why are the eyes shedding tears like a shower of rain?

Page 9: Naat Lyrics and Meaning

Mukh chan badr shah shaani ay Matthay chamkay laat noorani ay

Kaali zulf tay akh mastaani ay Mahmoor akheen hain madh bhariyaan His shining face appeared to me in a vision,

And fragrance emanated in profusion from His tresses; I fainted from the sight of these visions; The beauty of his eyes overpowered me.

Is surat noon mein jaan aakhaan

jis shaan toon shaanaan sab baniyaan I am not sure whether I should call his face the essence of life;

Or life of the entire universe; The truth is that it is the glory of God,

From which all other worldly glories originated.

 Subhan allah! Maa ajmalaka

maa ahsanaka, maa akmalaka Glory be to Allah! There is no one more beautiful than thee!

No one more excellent than thee, no one more perfect!

Kithay mihr ali kithay teri sanaa gustaakh akheen kithay jaa ariyaan!

Who is (the humble) Meher Ali to chant thy praises; How (presumptuous and) impudent his eyes are to aspire to the heights of thy

love!

Our Master is the treasure of grace, He is a treasure of mercyHe is the guide of the entire Nation, showing us the way of the Sacred Law

Sa’tish shajaru nataqal hajaruShaqqal qamaru bi ishaaratihi

Ungli ke ishaare ped chale, Hijaz se patthar bol utheAur chand huwa hai do tukre angusht ke ek ishaare se

On the command of your Blessed finger the tree began to walk Embraced in your hand the stones began to speak

Upon one gesture of Your blessed finger the moon was split in two

Jibrilu ata laylata asra’ Wa ’r-rabbu da‘a fi hadratihi

Jibril-i Amin paigham-i khuda, lekar aaye the shab-i asra'Allah hane Arsh pe bulwiya, Kurbat ke sharaf unko baksha

On the night of the Ascension, Hazrat Jibril came with glad tidings Your Lord invites you to the heavens, bestowing upon You the honour of intimacy

Fa-wasilatuna huwa sayyiduna Wa ’l-izzu lana bi-ijabatihi

So Muhammad hai apane aqaIs naam se apani izzo vaqa

Therefore You are our benefactor, You are our leaderYou are the cause of our dignity and preservation

My eyes have not seen more beautiful person than youNo women has given birth to a more beautiful person than you

Khuliqta mubarra an min kulli aibinKa annaka qad khuliqta kama tashaa

You have been created without any weakness and blemishAs if you have been created as you wished to be created

Chamak Tujse Paate

Chamak tujse paate he sab paane waale,Mera dil bhi chamka de chamkaane waale.

All those who attain brightness attain it from You,Brighten my heart also, O You who Brightens!

Barasta nahi dekh kar abre rehmat,Badon par bhi barsa de barsa ne waale.

The rain of your Mercy descends on all.Allow it to descend upon the sinners as well,

O You who Showers (his mercy upon us)!

Page 11: Naat Lyrics and Meaning

Madine ki khitte Khuda tujh ko rakkhe,Ghareebon faqeeron ke thehraane waale.

O areas of Madinah! May Allah keep (safeguard) you,The shelter for the poor and needy!

Tu zinda he wallah, tu zinda he wallah,Mere chashme aalam se chup jaane waale.

You are alive by Allah, by Allah You are Alive!O You who is hidden away from our physical sight.

Me mujrim hu Aaqa, mujhe saath le lo,Ke raste me he jaa baja thaane waale.

I'm a lawbreaker, O Saviour take me with you,In the path ahead are jailors everywhere!

Haram ki zami aur qadam rakh ke chalna,Areh sar ka moqa he o jaane waale.

The ground of Haram and we walk with our feet? The chance of walking with the head,

O you who visits the Haram!

Tera kaye tere Ghulamo se uljhe,He munkir ajab khaane ghurraane waale.

They eat what is Yours and cause trouble with your Servants? How amazing are these infidels, eat and betray!

Rahega yuhi, unka charcha rahega,Pare khaak ho jaaye jal jaane waale.

Forever shall His indestructible excellence be publicisedWhilst the jealous will burn in their jealousy to ashes

Raza nafs dushman he dum me na aana,Kaha tumne dekha he chand raane waale.

Raza! Desire is your enemy; do not be caught in its trap.Where have you seen those who are in pretence?

Dare Nabi Par

Dare nabi par para rahoon ga pare hi rehne se kaam hogaKabhi to qismat khule gi meri kabhi to mera salam hoga

I will remain at the Prophet's door, my wishes will only be fulfilled by staying there!

At some time my destiny will shine, sometime I will be able to present my salam!

Khilafe mashooq kuch huwa hai na koi aashiq se kaam hogaKhuda bhi hoga udhar bhi aye dil jidhar woh aali maqam hogaNo lover has ever done or will ever do anything against their beloved

God will also be there, let the heart come to where that elevated place is!

Kiye hi jaoon ga arz matlab milega jab tak na dil ka matlabNa shaam e matlab ki subha hogi na yeh fasana tamam hoga

Page 12: Naat Lyrics and Meaning

I shall keep on pleading for my heart's desire until it is met!Neither will the eve of my desires ever see morn, nor will this story ever end!

Jo dil se hai ma’il-e-payambar yeh is ki pehchan hai muqarrarKe har dam is be nawa ke lab par durood hoga salam hoga

He who is in thrall of the Messenger from his heart, is constantly recognised by this:

At every breath from his soundless lips pours salutations and blessings upon him!

Isi tawaqqa pe ji raha hoon yehi tamanna jila rahi haiNigahe lutfo karam na hogi to mujh ko jeena haram hoga

I am keeping alive with this expectation; this want keeps me breathing:If I don't receive his gracious gaze of pleasure my staying alive will be a crime!

Haajiyo Aawo Shahenshah Ka Rawza Dekho

Haajiyo aawo Shahenshah ka Rawza dekho, Kaaba to dekh chuke Kaabe ka Kaaba dekho

Oh pilgrims! Come and see the Holy Grave of the King,You have seen the Kabah, now see the Kabah of the Kabah!

Rukhne Shaami se miti wah’shate shaame gurbat,

Ab Madine ko chalo subhe dil aaraa dekho Rukhne Shaami has eliminated your loneliness in the evening, Come now to Madinah and see the freshness of the morning.

Aabe ZamZam to piyaa khoob bujhaayi pyaase, Aawo joode Shahe Kawsar ka bi darya dekho

You drank ZamZam water and fully quenched your hearts thirst,Come and see the generosity of the Prophet's river of mercy.

Zayre Mizaab mile khoob karamke cheente, Abre Rahmat ka yaha zor barasnaa dekho

You have enjoyed drops from the Mizaab happily, See now the daily showers of rain from the Clouds of Mercy.

Page 15: Naat Lyrics and Meaning

Khoob aankho se lagaaya he Ghilaafe Kabah, Kasre Mehboob ke parde ka bhi jalwah dekho

You have kissed the Covers of the Kabah reverently with your eyes; See here the curtains of the Beloved's palace waving gently.

Zeenate Kabah me tha laakh arooso ka banaw,

Jalwa farma yaha kawnain ka dulha dekho There was the beauty of a million brides in the Kabah,

See here the beautiful throne of the bridegroom in Madinah.

Dho chuka zulmate dil bosaa e sunge Aswad, Khaak bosi-e-Madinah ka bhi rutbaa dekho

The kissing of the Black Stone has washed away the sins of your hearts, See now what high reward awaits in Madinah.

Jummah e Makkah tha Eid, ahle ibaadat keliye,

Mujrimo! Aawo yaha Eide do shamba dekhoFriday Prayers at Makkah gives ecstasy to the worshippers,

O sinners! See and experience the climax of compassion here on Mondays.

Raqse bismilki bahaare to Mina me dekhi,Dil khonaa be fishaa ka bhi tarapna dekho You have seen in Mina the dance of loyal hearts,

See here the fluttering of the Lovers' wounded and bleeding hearts.

Gowr se sun to Raza Kabah se aati he sadaa,Meri aankho se mere Pyaare ka Rawza dekho

O Raza! Listen carefully for a moment to what the Kabah gently cries,"See the Holy Grave of my Beloved Prophet with my eyes!”

Ho Karam Sarkar Ab To

Ya Rasulallah karam, Ya Habiballah karam,Ya Rasulallah karam, ho niga he karam

Ho karam sarkar ab to ho gaye gham beshumaarJaan-o-dil tum par fida e, do jahan ke tajdaar

Have Mercy upon me my Master, my sorrows have become limitless,My heart and soul are sacrificed for You, O King of both worlds

Mein akela aur masa’il zindagi ke beshumar,Aap hi kuch kijiye na, aie Shahe-aali-waqar

Yaad aata he tawaaf e Khaana Kaaba mujhe,Aur lipatna Multazam se walihana baar baar

Memories arise of me doing Tawaaf (circumambulation) around the Holy Kabah,And then clinging to the Multazam again & again

Jaraha he kaafila Taiba nagar rota huwa,Mein raha jata hoon tanha e Habib-e-kird e gaar

The people are leaving for Madinah, crying,I am left here with the wish to go, O Beloved of Allah

Page 16: Naat Lyrics and Meaning

Jald phir tum lo bula, aur Sabz Gumbad do dikha,Hazari ki arzoo ne kar diya phir beqarar

Choom kar Khaaqe Madina, jhoomta phirta tha mein,Yaad aate hain Madine ke mujhe lailonahar

Ghumbade Khazra ke jalwe aur woh iftaria,Yaad aati he bohot Ramzan e Taiba ki bahar

The view of the Green Dome, and those Iftaars (moment of breaking the fast),Memories arise constantly of the great Ramadan in Taiba (Madinah)

Ya Rasulallah, sun lijiye meri faryaad go,Kon he jo be sune Tere siwa meri pukaar

Haal par mere karam ki ik nazar farmayi e,Dil mera ghamgeen mile he ghamzadon ke ghamgusar he

Kaafile waalo suno, yaad aaye to mera salaam,Arz karna rote rote ho sakeh to baar baar

Ghamzada yun na hua hota Ubaid-e-Qadri,Is baras bhi dekhta har Sabz Gumbad ki bahar

Ubaid-e-Raza’s sadness would not have been so,If this year he was blessed with seeing Green Dome.

Tu Sham-e-Risaalat

Tu sham-e-risaalat he, alam tera parwaanaTu maa he nabuwwat he, e jalwa-e-jaana na

You are the torch of Prophethood, the universe your ardent devotees. You are the bright moon of Nabuwwat, manifestation of the Beloved.

Khaate he tere dar ka, peete he tere dar kaPaani he tera paani, daana he tera daana

From your court we eat, and from your court we drink, The water in reality is your water; the food in reality is your food.

Jo saaki-e-kausar ke, chehre se niqaab ut'he,

Har dil bane mekhana, har aankh ho paimaanaIf the Blessed Face of the Distributor of Kawthar were to be unveiled,

Every heart will be intoxicated and all eyes witnessing this will be lost in its Love.

Sange dar jaana par, karta hu jabeen saayi,Sajda na samaj najdi, sar deta hu nazraana

When I lower my head in the court of my Beloved,Do not think of this as prostration O Najdi (Wahabi), for I am just presenting my head as an

offering.

Sarkaar ke jalwo se, rawshan he dille Noori,Taa hashr rahe rawshan Noori ka ye kashaana

Through the manifestation of the Beloved Prophet , the heart of Noori is radiant. Until the day of Hashr, may this abode of Noori be forever luminous.

Unki Mehek ne Dil

Unki mehek ne dil ke ghunche kila diye he,Jis raah chal diye he, kooche basa diye he.

His fragrance has caused the buds of my heart to blossomWhichever road he has travelled, he has brought it to life!

Jab agayi he josh e rahmat pe unki ankhe,

Jalte bujha diye he, rote hassa diye he.When his eyes have surged forth, ocean-like, with mercy

They have extinguished those on fire, brought smiles to those in tears

Ik dil hamara kya he, aazar uska kitna,Tum ne to chalte phirte, murde jila diye he.

What is my heart alone? However much its harmYou have brought back to life the living dead!

Unke nisaar koyi kaise hi runj mein ho,Jab yaad aagaye he, sab gham bhula diye he.

May I die for him! However much sorrow someone is inWhen he is remembered, all one's sorrows are forgotten!

Hum se faqir bhi ab pheri ko utthe honge,Ab to Ghani ke dar par, bistar jama diye he.

Now even medicants hope to obtain something from usSince we have lain our mattresses at the door of that generous One!

Asra mein guzre jis dam bere pe qudsiyon ke,

Page 20: Naat Lyrics and Meaning

Hone lagi salaami, parchum jhuka diye he.During the Ascension when he passed the angelic hosts

They began to salute him and lower their flags!

Aane do ya dabo do ab to tumhari janib,Kashti tumhi pe chori, langar utha diye he.

Whether you let me cross or not, it is now up to your pleasureI have left my ship in your hands, have lifted the anchor!

Dulha se itna kehdo pyaare sawari roko,Mushkil mein he baraati, purkhar la diye he.

Say this much to the bridegroom: Beloved, halt your steed The wedding guests are in difficulty, their way strewn with thorns!

Allah re kya Jahannam ab bhi na sard hoga,Ro ro ke Mustafa ne dariya baha diye he.

Allah! Have the fires of Jahannam still not frozen over?Beloved Mustafa has wept oceans of tears!

Mere kareem se gar qatra kisi ne maanga,Dariya baha diye he, durbe baha diye he.

If one asked a mere drop from my gracious masterHe has given him rivers in return, whole oceans instead!

Mulk e sukhan ko shahi tum ko Raza musallam,Jis simt agaye he, sikke bitha diye he.

Congratulations on being crowned King of verse, Raza!Wherever you have gone, coins have been struck in your name! *
