HowtheyworkClearViewdefrostershaveanelectricalresistancewhichwhenpoweredprovidestheheatneededtoclearwindowsofsnowandiceinminutes.

Availableinfourmodelsfromthesimpleautomatictenminutetimingtomoresophisticatedadjustableautomaticshutofftiming,powermodulationandnetworkcontrolallowingasingleswitchtocontrol

multipledefrosters.

WiththeadditionofaSwitchBoss,2812/2824ThermaSynccontrolscanactivateseveraldefrostersatoncethroughasingleswitchmakingthesystemidealformultipledefrosterinstallationslikeindustrialequipmentcabs.

PowerModulationThermaSynccontrolscanmodulatetheapparentpowertothedefrosterfrom3%upto100%.ThisfeatureenableshundredsofnewClearViewIIdefrostersizestofitalmostanywindowin12and24volt.

ThermaSyncAutomaticTimingPressthedefrostersymbolontheremoteswitchtoturnthedefrosteron.ThedefrosterstaysonuntiltheswitchispressedagainortheThermaSynccontroltimesout.

Thecontrolcanbesettotimeoutfrom10to160minutesorcanbeleftonindefinitelydependingontheinternaljumpersettings.Thisfeatureisgoodforapplicationswherelongertimingcyclesaredesiredlikesnowplowequipment.

OneSwitch,MultipleDefrostersAsingleswitchcanactivatemanydefrostersusingtheThermaSyncSwitchBoss.Thisnetworkcontrolisgoodforapplicationsthatrequireseveraldefrosterstobeactivatedfromasingleswitch.

MountingTheThermaSynccontrolcanbesecuredoutofsightunderthedashwhiletheswitchcanbemountedremotelyindash.Aseparateunderdashmountisincludedwithfullkits.

"MeasuretheDefrostAreaAllowatleast1.5in(3.8cm)clearancefromthewindowsedge.Onvehicleswithtightlycurvingwindowsthedefrostershouldstopbeforetheradius.Takebackuplightsintoaccount.

Important!Thedefrosterheight(top-to-bottom)isfixedbythenumberofgridlinesandcannotbechanged.Thedefrosterwidth(side-to-side)canbetrimmedwithintheminimumandmaximumdefrostersizes.

#SelecttheClearViewDefrosterStartbyselectingadefrosterthatfitstheheight(top-to-bottom)ofthewindow.Thenselectthedefrosterwidth(side-to-side)betweenthemaximumandminimumwidthforthedefroster.

PeakCurrentThisisthecurrentthatisobtainedbydividingtheVoltageattheheaterbytheResistanceoftheheater.Itisimportantthatthe25ampereratingoftheelectronicswitchnotbeexceeded.Itisalsoimportantincalculatingthevoltagedropinthecircuitfeedingtheheaters,andisindependentofdutycycle.

RMSCurrentThisisthecurrentthatactuallydoestheheating.ItisobtainedbymultiplyingthePeakCurrenttimesthesquarerootofthedutycycle.Toobtainadequateheatonthewindow,theRMScurrentneedstobeatleast2.75amperesinallconductors,andtopreventoverheatingthewindow,cannotbegreaterthan4.3amperesinanyconductor.

AverageCurrentThiscurrentrepresentstheamountofdrainonthebattery.ItisobtainedbymultiplyingthePeakCurrenttimesthedutycycle.Ifthewindowiswarmedfortenminuteswithouttheenginerunning,theampere-hourdrainonthebattery,thebatterydrainwillneverexceedacomfortable4.2Ah.

FuseRatingsSincefusesaresensitivetoRMScurrent,recommendedfuseratingsshouldbeatleast20%higherthattheRMScurrent.

Standardautomotivefuseratingsare5.0A,7.5A,10A,15A,20A,25Aand30A.SotherecommendedfuseratingisobtainedbymultiplyingthemaximumRMScurrenttimes1.2andselectingthenexthigherstandardfuse.

DutyCycleDutyCycleisdefinedasthetimethattheheaterisONdividedbythetimetheheaterisOFFplusthetimetheheaterisON,andisgenerallyexpressinpercent.IftheheaterisONallthetime,thedutycycleissaidtobe100%.
