(Apple Pie – continued from page1) Pass Highway (152). At this point we are just a few miles from our destination. We will continue on HW 152 west to Mt. Madonna. We will make another stop here at the top. This will definitely be a Kodak moment. From here, on a clear day, you can see all the way to Santa Cruz. A few pictures, back in the cars and down the hill into Watsonville where we will visit Fortino Winery and then the Gizdich Ranch. The Gizdich family has owned this 67 acre ranch since 1930. It is a family-owned business that produces 14 varieties of apples, strawberries, raspberries, ollalieberries, blackberries, winter squash, and fresh apple juice. The fine folks at the ranch will have reserved parking waiting for us. Here we will enjoy the best fresh baked pies on the planet, plus there is also a gift shop, Antique Shop, pick-yourself area, and tours. Wow, I am almost out of breath, but I am not done yet. As a special added treat, the club will be picking up the tab for lunch and dessert. Please, club members and immediate family only. Mark your calendars for yet another first class event. Your club officers and volunteers are working hard for you, so please come and support your club. We will meet in the Office Max parking lot on the corner of Almaden and Blossom Hill at 9:00 a.m. and leave promptly at 9:30 a.m. The address is 1130 Blossom Hill, San Jose, Ca. 95118. Any questions contact Michael Crusco at 650-238-7035 or email at [email protected]

2014 Halloween Contest

It’s not too soon to be thinking about Halloween and our annual party, scheduled this year on Saturday, October 25. I'd love for people to be thinking about some cool different categories for the Halloween contest this year. Who, for example, will win this year's Halloween costume contest for Biggest Hair? Best Face Make-Up? Best 60's or 70's Character? Herman Munster? Uncle Fester? Morticia Adams? Gilligan? The Club's Favorite Decorated Pumpkin? I was thinking we could have people cast votes for their favorite pumpkin rather than having the judges decide. You know, different from past years. We'll need to order up some trophies for the categories, and it would be great to get input from the members. If we don't get ANY other suggestions, I might run with the suggestions I just mentioned, but it would be great to get some ideas from the membership. Thanks! – Bev Mosqueda

Hot August Niles

It was terrific day in downtown Niles on Saturday, August 16. The sun had not even come up at 6:15am, however we already had 1 club member holding spots and by 6:30 several other members were parked in front of the El Camino Real bar. By 7am we had cars on both sides of the

street, a total of 7 cars from our club members. We even had some other Chevelle and El Camino owners interested in our club so we of course were distributing those club membership forms and cards. The weather was on our side, a mild summer day in Niles. The great things about this show are the people as well as the number of cars to see. The food is always great with Niles’ cafes and restaurants. For those of you who missed this show, put this one on your calendars for next year!
