PRINCIPAL’S PERSPECTIVES Congratulations to Tearra Charles for finishing in the top 3 School Based Apprentice/Trainee of the Year at the State Training Awards in Sydney last Thursday night. Thank you to the staff at the Balranald Hospital for supporting Tearra’s training while she completes her Higher School Certificate. The NSW Rural Fire Service Secondary School Cadet Graduation will be on this Thursday 15 September at 12.00pm in the school hall. The Rural Fire Service Cadet Program gives Year 9 and 10 students the opportunity to follow the training and service ideals of the NSW RFS during the school year. The program offers a level of camaraderie and sense of community that is unparalleled. Students learn new and valuable skills as they participate in interesting and challenging training, such as practical life skills, leadership, teamwork and initiative, and a sense of community responsibility and service. Balranald Central School will be celebrating R U OK day on Friday 16th September. The day is a campaign and effort to encourage all Australians to take care of individuals who may be going through a hard time and to create a world where everyone is connected. “Just by asking how are they, ‘are you ok? you can change the course of someone’s life and the day also highlights that there is no shame in asking for help. The details on Balranald Central Schools R U OK day celebrations were sent home last week.

Congratulations to our HSC Industrial Technology timber students who have just had their major projects marked by the HSC markers. The students had worked on their projects for a considerable amount of time outside of their regular class time. The students have done a wonderful job. Well done! On Tuesday the 13th of September our students will have an opportunity to watch the Australian Army Band – Kapooka at the Royal Theatre. The band has generously offered to perform for our students as part of their preparation for the evening concert. The band will make themselves available after the mini concert for any of our student musicians who would like to ask questions. The evening concert will be held at 7pm. This Thursday the 15th of September Balranald Central School is holding its second Year 6 into Year 7 transition day. We are looking forward to once again welcoming our new students from Euston Public and St Joseph’s Primary along with our current Year 6 students in what is sure to be an exciting day full of learning activities. As a school staff we are starting to go through the various processes of school planning for 2017. To assist in our planning now is the time for any parents intending or enquiring to enrol their child into Balranald Central School. I can be contacted at any time for information and enrolment forms can be collected from the Balranald Central School office.

Have a great week!
