WE GATHER
Opening Voluntary
How Lovely Are Thy Dwellings Samuel Liddle
How lovely are Thy dwellings, O Lord of Hosts!
My soul longeth yea, fainteth, for the courts of the Lord:
My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.
Yea, the sparrow hath found her a house
and the swallow a nest, where she may lay her young,
Even thine alters, oh Lord of hosts, my King and my God.
O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer.
I would rather be a door keeper in the house of my God,
than to dwell in the tents of wickedness
For a day in Thy courts is better than a thousand.
Welcome
Chiming of the Trinity
Call to Worship Psalm 84
How good it is to be in the courts of our God!
Happy are those who live in God’s house!
Here we welcome both friend and stranger.
We are here, God is here with us.
God fills us with hope as we sing our praise!
Processional Hymn No. 545
The Church’s One Foundation AURELIA
The church's one foundation is Jesus Christ, her Lord;
she is his new creation by water and the Word:
from heav'n he came and sought her to be his holy bride;
with his own blood he bought her, and for her life he died.
Elect from ev'ry nation, yet one o'er all the earth,
her charter of salvation one Lord, one faith, one birth;
one holy name she blesses, partakes one holy food,
and to one hope she presses, with ev'ry grace endued.
Though with a scornful wonder, men see her sore oppressed,
by schisms rent asunder, by heresies distressed,
yet saints their watch are keeping, their cry goes up, "How long?"
And soon the night of weeping shall be the morn of song.
'Mid toil and tribulation, and tumult of her war,
she waits the consummation of peace forevermore;
till with the vision glorious her longing eyes are blest,
and the great church victorious shall be the church at rest.
Yet she on earth hath union with the God the Three in One,
and mystic sweet communion with those whose rest is won:
O happy ones and holy! Lord, give us grace that we,
like them, the meek and lowly, on high may dwell with thee.
The Creed No. 881 Apostles’ Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth;
and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord:
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried.
The third day He rose from the dead;
He ascended into heaven,
and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
