Ms. Newell's …Daily Homework Expectations: Students are expected to set aside some homework time on a daily basis. Students are expected to finish any incomplete class work at home, but usually students finish assignments in the classroom. But that doesn't mean they have no homework!

Have your child choose from this following list, trying to find a balance of activities throughout the week:1. Study spelling words in their Agenda, also under "Handouts". Test is on Friday mornings! 2. Practice Cursive HandWriting-copy a paragraph out of a book or newspaper..in handwriting!3.Read! Read a "Just Right" book, Just before bed...for 20 minutes!4.French! "Read Every Day! Students are expected to be reading at home on a daily basis. Students should be reading a book that interests them and that is Just Right, for their reading level. Students can do the 5 finger check to see if the bookis Just Right. This means they try to read one page.As they come across a word they don't know, or can'tpronounce, they stick up one finger. If there were 5challenging words, the student would have 5 fingers up, which would indicate that the reading level is too difficult. If no fingers go up, then the book is likely too easy. It's kind of like being Goldilocks! Students should be reading books that are Just Right!
