SCRIPT FOR CONTEST CHAIR Good afternoon, Ladies & gentlemen, welcome to Deli Toastmasters Club - Humorous Speech and Evaluation Contests. I am Ninda Tane Mabri Sihombing, and I am the contest chair in this contest. How are you for today? Do think that this is a great weekend? As usually I feel so nice in weekend, but how about you, contestant? Do you feel nice in this weekend? You may not answer me. Now, we will run the 1 st contest, International Speech Contest This contest serves the following purposes: 1. To provide an opportunity for speakers to improve their speaking abilities and to recognize the best as encouragement to all 2. To provide an opportunity to learn by observing the more proficient speakers who have benefited from their Toastmasters training I shall now brief the speech contest rules: 1. Photo-snapping during the contest is strictly prohibited. 2. Contestants are given 5-7 minutes to deliver their speech 3. A contestant will be disqualified from the contest if the speech is less than 4 minute 30 seconds or more than 7 minutes 30 seconds. 4. Upon being introduced, the contestants shall proceed immediately to the speaking position. Timing will begin with the contestant’s first definite verbal or non-verbal communication with the audience. This usually will be the first word uttered by the contestant, but would include any other communication such as sound effects, a staged act by another person etc. 5. Timers shall provide warning signals to the contestants, which shall be clearly visible to the speakers. - Green light will be displayed at 5 minutes and remain displayed for 1 minute. - Amber light will be displayed at 6 minutes and remain displayed for 1 minute.

Now, we will run the 1st contest, International Speech Contest

This contest serves the following purposes:1. To provide an opportunity for speakers to improve their speaking abilities and to recognize the best as

7. There will be 1 minute of silence between contestants, during which the judges will mark their ballots.

8. No one is allowed to enter or leave the hall while the contestant is speaking. However, you may do so during the 1-minute silence.

And before we start the contest, please switch off all noise making devices including pagers and mobile phones. Thank you.

I shall now brief the table topic contest rules:

1. Photo-snapping during the contest is strictly prohibited.

2. Contestants are given 2 minutes to deliver their evaluation.

3. A contestant will be disqualified from the contest if the speech is less than 1 minute or more than 2 minutes 30 seconds.

4. Upon being introduced, the contestants shall proceed immediately to the speaking position. Timing will begin with the contestant’s first definite verbal or non-verbal communication with the audience. This usually will be the first word uttered by the contestant, but would include any other communication such as sound effects, a staged act by another person etc.

5. 7. I will call each the contestant by announcing the contestant’s name. Table topic’s topic will be read out twice to the contestant and follow by contestant’s name.

8. There will be 1 minute of silence between contestants, during which the judges will mark their ballots. SAA will then summon the next contestant to enter the contest hall during this 1 minute of silence.

9. No one is allowed to enter or leave the hall while the contestant is speaking. However, if you need to attend to call of nature, you may do so during the 1-minute silence.

Once again, before we start the contest, please switch off all noise making devices including pagers and mobile phones. Thank you
