Assumed prime responsibility to adopt SNAPS products to DDN/SNA project. This included generating compatible source code for all SNAPS products to be executed on the 68000 coprocessor card. Designed isolation layers and SDLC driver to drive the Z8530 communication chip for the SNAPS products. Provided the team with the technical knowledge and expertise on SNA and the Data Connection SNAPS software. Evaluated the SNAPS products and provided management with recommendations on products applicability and/or weaknesses for the DDN/SNA project.

Southern Pacific / Consultant - San Francisco, CA (July 1993 to December 1995)

Assumed the project manager and architect role to lead a small team to design and develop the Intermodal hand-held client/server system for Southern Pacific Railroad Company. This system operates in all Southern Pacific’s railroad ramps gate operation nationwide. The Radio Frequency (RF) hand-held terminals are used to track inbound and outbound traffic at the gate. This system manages all transactions done on the RF handheld terminals and communicates with the host to send and receive data. The system operates on three PCs in the IBM OS/2 - LAN environment.

The Systems Center Inc. / Software Engineer - San Mateo, CA

Involved with the development of two network software products that supports communication links from micros-to-mainframes. Provided component design specifications and programming functions to implement data link control drivers for microprocessor based systems. Implemented a Network Access Services package on the Apple Lisa that supported full IBM 3270 emulation. This layered architecture is based on the IBM System Network Architecture (SNA) design. Developed and implemented SNA Data Flow Control, Path Control and Data Link Control layers, as well as the microprocessor functions necessary for dynamic memory management, dispatcher and driver interface routines.

Designed and implemented a data transfer facility, Network Data Mover-PC, for the IBM Personal Computer (PC). This product provides the ability for an IBM PC user to efficiently send and receive files from a host mainframe using SNA communication facilities. Developed Work Station Program that supported a simplified user interface to the data transfer facility. The product was implemented to communicate through a Covus Omninet Local Area Network (LAN) to The Systems Center SNA Gateway product.

Innovative Interfaces Inc. / Application Programmer - Berkeley, CA

Developed and maintained application programs to support a library information system to manage the indexing and retrieval functions using the UCSD PASCAL programming language. In addition, provided financial reporting and supplier reporting facilities for the microprocessor based application.
