Language Arts

•List and explain three ways that you have improved your writing from the beginning of the year to now.1. When we had to write in 3rd and 4th grade, I did not like it.2. My longest writing piece was like one page in 4th grade, and this time it was 9 pages.3. I feel like writing longer narratives.•How are you progressing with your 40 book challenge goal? How has your at home reading improved since beginning the reading logs during the 3rd quarter?

I read the same as I always did, whenever, for as long as I want.•What was one activity that you really enjoyed in Language Arts? Why?

Writing the personal narratives because it brought back happy memories.•What was one activity that was a real challenge for you in Language Arts? Why?

It would have to be the “Wonder” signposts because I did not do very well at first.•What is your overall individual goal for this class? Why?

Be in vocabulary before 6th grade because it looks so fun and easy.

Social Studies

•What is the most important thing that you have learned about Ancient History this year? What are some fun facts you’d like to share?

The most important thing was how humans and plants came to be. One fun fact is the people in the Indus River Valley played a game similar to chess, which the Islams invented over 1,000 years later.•What has been your favorite activity in social studies this year? Why?

The chapter 16 Act-It-Outs because we got to make fools of ourselves.•What has been your biggest challenge in social studies this year? Why?

The biggest challenge was trying to understand the Hindu religion because it was too complex.•What is your overall individual goal for this class? Why?

My overall goal is to finish all the chapters that we did not read before the end of the year because I will feel I accomplished my first textbook.

Science Lit

•How do you feel you have grown as a learner from your honey bee experience?I have grown from a deep hatred of bees to a “they’re not so bad after all” kind of

mood.•Did your group work well together? Why or why not?

It depends on who’s perspective you have. Some of us say yes and the others say no.•What has been your favorite part of this challenge?

Making all of the crafts and brainstorming because we got to have a blast.•What is your overall individual goal for this class?

Our goal is to raise more than $100 from candles and lip balm/chapstick.

Science

•What have you found challenging about science this year?I thought the H2O heroes was tough. The information was very hard to find.

•What have you done to overcome these challenges?•To overcome this challenge, our team collaborated.•What has been your favorite activity in science this year?

My favourite activity was the “Where is Water on Earth?” project.•What is your personal goal in science for the rest of the school year? Why?

To finish with an overall grade of an “A” because I will be satisfied.•What science activity would you like to share with your parents and why?

Body systems book because I feel like I got a very good grade on it.

Math

•What have you found challenging about math this year?Finding the area of trapezoids because the sub did not teach us correctly.

•What have you done to overcome these challenges?We asked Mrs. Brown the correct formula and we got the hang of it.

•What are you most proud of in math this year? Explain why.I am proud of making it to 6th grade math and not quitting.

•What is your personal goal in math for the rest of the school year? Why?My goal is to keep the “A” on the board so I can finish with an “A”.

•What math activity would you like your parents to try and why?I would like my parents to calculate the area of a trapezoid so they can see what it is

like.
