Reflection

I didn’t want to ..… give the impression that what you’re doing is wrong.

I wanted … to give you more background information on why? (ideas behind) and how (techniques, skills) to give you more tools (e.g.for starting a lesson – not only PACE) you to use self-reflection concerning what you’re doing you to focus on goals and not on the process mainly ( there are different goals when teaching

languages compared to teaching other subjects – there are consequently different ways to deal with it)

to make you aware that logic, structures, analysis are as important as creativity in the process of learning

you to become aware of the need of contextualizing whatever we’re teaching – nothing isolated

I wanted to make your teaching reacher and maybe even more effective. I regarded myself as a person making suggestions you can adapt or not.

Messages: When having a lot of background information you are free to choose, create and select material.

Information makes you act freely. It’s the variety that makes our world so rich Life means change When you always do what you have always done, don’t be surprised that you always get what

you’ve always got. The term NEUES LERNEN implies that it is new. Is it? On the Austrian book market there are

English books that reflect many of the latest ideas and even go further than NEUES LERNEN; “Friends” reflects the multiple Intelligences and shows the corresponding image of intelligence for nearly each exercise. “English to go” reflects the ideas of constructing words, categorizing them, making semantic fields and mind-maps. “The New YOU&ME” reflects the ideas of introducing new material in a context and focuses like all the other books on acquisition rather than learning. Make sure that NEUES LERNEN is “new”.

Suggestion for further developments:If we want to compare NEUES LERNEN with a house, What’s the base? –

- Is it based on the Process? Brain-friendly learning, Relaxation, ….- Is it based on Psychological Approaches: Behaviourism, Constructivism, …- Is it based on Linguistic Approaches: Natural Approach, Communicative Approach,…- Is it based on Humanistic Approaches: De-suggestopedia, Gestaltpädagogik,….- Is it based in inner beliefs: The global is the part and the part in the global; you get what you

expect,…….- Is it based on Techniques: Memno techniques, Drama, Edu-knesiology, multi-sensory,..-

Rooms and floors? - How many? One for each module?- Are all the modules of the same importance? Can we grade them? - Is there a lift or staircase which combines the different floors? - Can you start your walk through “Brainland” wherever you want to, or it necessary to visit

certain floors or rooms first in order to understand and be able to implement the information?- Is there at least one door to each room? - Is it possible to look at the rooms from outside?- Is there a map that gives me the global picture and tells me where to find what and how all the

things are interrelated?
