Masthead Idea

For my masthead I am going to include “indie” or “Alternative” within it so it makes it clear to the audience what genre of music it is about.

I have thought about calling my magazine “InD” or “Alt.”

What to include to attract people to the magazine

My answers from my questionnaire informed me that the main things that attract readers to the magazine are the picture, information about articles and free stuff. I will make sure these are the main 3 things I focus on when creating my magazine

FeedbackFrom my feedback from my focus group, people have said that they thought calling my magazine InD was a good idea, and that it was catchy. They thought that all of the article ideas which were going to be included within the magazine were good ideas, and that the double page spread should be about festivals and what you need, etc, as it is a good idea and will be useful to most readers. They said that bands that I am going to include were good for the genre I am doing and will appeal to the readers. They said the cost was good as it was cheaper than other music magazines so it will stand out, although some people said it was too cheap. I think I will stick with my price of £2 as the people who said it will stand out had some good points. My focus group thought that I should have a band/solo artist on my front cover which could be related to another article within the magazine. They said that for the free stuff I could do printed tshirts as they are quite cheap, they said if I did CD’s I should up the price to around £3 which I think is understandable. Some people said that bright colours would be outstanding and eye catching, but I thought pastel colours would be better. 2 people from my focus group said pastel colours would be a good idea as not many other music magazines are pastel colours, they are bright, so therefore pastel colours would stand out more in a shop.
