Material/Process Data Sheet

MaterialProcess

ABS plastic PVC plastic AluminumAluminums is a part of metal member, its same like steel, brass, and copper, It can be melted, Cast, reformed and machines. In metal members, aluminum are the most lightest material, It specifics weight of 2.7 g/cm3, about third times lighter then steel. It’s also can be adapter to other application required by modifying the composition of its alloys. Aluminum is 100 percent recycla-ble with no downgrading of its qualities. Its just need 5 percent of the energy required to produce the primary metal initially is need in the recycling process.

Properties of aluminum, Lightweight, Strong, Long lasting, very ductile, good reflective properties and infinitely recyclable.

Manufacturing processCasting, Forming, machines and laser cut-ting.Aluminum can react to foods, which may affect color and flavor.

PVC (Polyvinyl chloride) is a versatile thermoplastic material obtained from ethylene and salt by vinyl chloride polym-erization.

PVC is resistant to aggressive environ-ment factors, therefore its can be using for outdoor product. PVC can be flexible, not easily to break a part. As my product, mostly all the turbine and blade it made out of PVC. PVC can be using up to 100 years or even more. Its can be recyclable as more then other plastic.

PVC, Can be injection molding, forming, also can be milling.

ABS Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene, It a flame retardant material, High heat resistance, High impact resistance, High flows, High Glossiness, and good dimensional stability. Easy to working with ABS

Process of Abs, Could be In-jection molding, brow mold-ing, 3D rapids technology, also milling.

But ABS has a limit in weath-ering resistance, because it will melt with heat, also it also pro-ducing high smoke generation is harmful for the environ-ment.

Throughout this few weeks in the class, I learned about many things and getting more interesting on how to explored the product behind stories, Ric has bought us some great films about how the manu-facturing working behinds the product. I think as a designer, it’s been in-creditable usefully for us in our future development. For my exploded projects, I pick phone in the beginning of the class, but I found, there was only in-teresting mechanisms on the slide-phone is two magnets detecting themselves and increasing the smoothness of phone sliding preformed. Therefore, I decided to do something more fun, more complex, and less digital. Finally, I came out the RC helicopter, Firstly I very impressing how the simple mechanisms came together, and turn the heli-copter to the air. After an hours dissembled the products, and labor it out, its wasn’t that complicated to me, I looks up to every components was on the plane, and also rethinks the way to works better for manufactures in the future. I jump in to cads and cad out the helicopter with soildworks, its took me another 2 hours to complet-ed all the measurement from the components I got, and used another hours to cad the whole plane out.Mostly all the components is reasonable, but expects, the whole little helicopter have some much bolts inside, this may be will effecting the producing time, and also will give a lots of weight in the plane, if I had a chance to recreating the products, I will definitely removed most of the bolts, replacing the snap fits mechanisms to the products component, this may given it more lightweight to fly on the sky as well, more efficiently to the producing lines.

Critical review of the product
