IwasreadingaboutAlexandertheGreatandhowhewasprotectedinthemostamazingways.Legendorfact?Hecouldnotdieinbattle,nomatterhowdangerousthecircumstances.

Eventheweatherattimesfavoredhim,andtherewouldbesignsandvariousomens(allegedly).

Hewouldseeaneagleintheskyasanaffirmationthathisintentionswouldsucceed.Andtheyalwaysdid.

Whenhegotolder,hemadesomeseriousmiscalculations,andhisgoodfortunedesertedhim.Butformostofhislife,thegreaterportionofit,Alexanderwastrulyblessed.

Iwasalsothinkingthathebelievedinapantheonofgods,asdidtheGreeksandRomansofhistime.Godswhodidunbelievablethings,sometimesmonstrous.Godswhocouldbesexuallypromiscuousandimmoral,aswellascruel.Arbitraryandunstable.NothingliketheGodwenowforthemostpartbelievein.

Alexanderwouldprayandmakeofferingstothesegods.Hebelievedthathedescendedfromoneofthem.Healsobelievedhewasdivinelyprotected.

So,hereismypoint:

Ifthesegodsofancienttimesweremerelylegends-delusionsoftheculture-thenwhataccountsforAlexandersamazingluck,especiallyinbattle?

Suchfortuitouscircumstancescannotbemerecoincidence.

IFhewasblessed,ANDthesestoriesarebasedontruth,thenhowcouldhehavebeenblessed-IFthegodsofhistimewerenotreal?

IFourGodistheonetrueGod,andJesusHismanifestationonearth,howcouldAlexanderhavehadhisprayersansweredbyprayingtomake-believegods?

WasitsimplythatAlexandersFAITHalonedeterminedthefinaloutcome?

ThepowerofbeliefINWHATYOUBELIEVEIN.

AsJesushassaid,Believe,andyoushallhavewhatsoeveryoubelieve.Donotdoubt

JesusalsospokeofwhatHehaddone,andtoldHisdisciples,AsIhavedone,so

IbelieveitispurelyFAITH.Thepowerofthemind.Whattheyhavedesiredandsincerelybelievedwouldhappencametopass.

Whydoesntitalwayswork?

Manyvariablesmaybeinvolved.Circumstances,timing,otherpeoplesmistakesorinterference.

ButIdobelievethisistheoneTRUEGIFTwehavereceivedfromourCreator-inwhateverformtheCreatortakesforus.ForIalsobelieveHehasmanifestedi

nmanyforms,asvariedastheUniverse.

GODCANBEWHATEVERWECONCEIVEHIMTOBE.HECANCOMETOUSINANYFORMWEPROJECT.INANYWAYHISINFINITEINTELLIGENCEDEEMSTHEBESTFORUS.

YetthisdoesnotchangethebasicnatureoftheCreatorandthefactthatHeexistsandhelps.

IlookaroundandIreadbooksonquantumphysicsandtheoriginsoftheuniverse.Ireadabouttheunbelievablecomplexityofourbodiesaswellasourminds,andhowIFJUSTONETINYPARTWEREOFFBYAFRACTION,ourlifewouldcease-thisisalsotrueonacosmicscale.

AndthenIknowthatGodexists.

ThereisadivineIntelligence.Hetakesapersonalformforme,likeafriend,whichishowIrelatetoHimbest.Butthatdoesnotmeanthesameistrueforyou.Itdoesnothavetobethesameforyou.Thatisthebeautyofthis.

IalsobelieveourCreatorexistsoutsideofus.Hewouldhavetoinordertobringusandeverythingelseintobeing.WeproceedfromHimasseparateentities.Yet-andthisalsospeaksfortheincredibleuniquenessoftheCreator-hecansimultaneouslyexistINSIDEUSASWELL,andbeapartofourverybeing.Inside,aroundandthroughus.

Ourmindshaveamazingpower,butSOMETHINGHADTOGIVEUSTHISPOWER.Wecouldnothavebroughtourselvesintobeing.Therealwayshastobeasource.

Thepowerofthemindcandesire,will,believesostronglyandwithsuchforcethatthingscancometopass-ormanifest-almostmiraculously.

Notmanyofusknowhowtoharnessthispowerconsistently.

So,therearefewsuchmiracles.ManypeoplefeeldisappointedbylifeandbyGod,constantlystruggling,gettingnowhere.

Howcanweusethisgift?

Ourfreewillenablesustotapintothispowerinourownway.BUTIFWHATWEWANTisnotgoodforusorforothers,ifitisunhealthyinsomeway,bythepuredefinitionoftheword,whichmeansagainstharmony,againstthenaturalorder

ofthings,againstyourself,thenthelawofCauseandEffectwillkickintomakesurethingsarebalanced.

Thisisneverpunishment.ThisisneverGodsrevenge.Itismerelyasystembeautifullyputintoplaceforus.

Itchecksexcesses,rewardsandencouragesgood,productivebehavioranddrives,

andrevealsthenegativeeffectsofbadones.

Goodorbadheremeaninghealthy.Balanced.Notasmoralpronouncements.Butparadoxically,whatishealthyandgoodforyoudoesindeedprovetobeultimatelymoralandbeneficialforothers,IFPROPERLYINSPIREDANDCARRIEDTOFRUITION.

Also,Ibelievethatthispowerofthemindhaslimitations,aswealldo.Thisworldinwhichwelivehasdefinitelimitationsoftimeandspace.Sodowe.Therefore,ourpowercannotbelimitless.ThatisonlyforourCreator.

WecannothaveEVERYTHINGWEWANT,ALLOURPRAYERSANSWERED,ALLTHETIME,INEVERYCIRCUMSTANCE.Thiswouldnotbegoodforus,notgoodforotherpeople,whos

ecircumstancesmayrequiredifferentoutcomesthanours,andalsoitcannotbepossibleinafiniteworld.

Wewillnotalwaysknowhowtoaccessthispower,orsustainthetremendousenergyandfocusitrequires.

IbelievethatGodintervenesatsuchtimes.Whenthereisanemergencyornecessity,IbelievethatourCreatorcananddoesstepin,regardlessofourstateofmind.

Religionwithallitsritualsandlawsisnotintrinsicallynecessary,butisabeautifulpublicdeclarationofloveforGod.IsayintrinsicallybecauseIlovemyCatholicfaithandIknowthewonderfulserviceandhelpitprovides.

ButIbelieve,deepinmyheart,thatallwereallyneedistoLOVEOURCREATOR,BELIEVEINHIM,TURNTOHIMOFTEN,ANDEXPRESSGRATITUDEINTANGIBLEANDINTANGIBLEWAYS.THISPERSONALLOVEIFEELMAYCOMPELMETOENGAGEINTHERITUALSANDPRACTICESOFAFORMALRELIGION.

IlovegoingtoMass,Ilovechurchesandprayers.YetIknowthesearechoicesImake.ICHOOSEtohonorGodpubliclywithsuchrituals-andthatisbasicallywhatMassis.

YourrelationshipwithGodispersonalandprivateandmustalwaysremainso.

NOreligionisbad,providedithonorsourCreator,caresforalllife,andgiveshopeandsomemeasureofpeace.

GODEXISTSWHETHERWEARECATHOLIC,PROTESTANT,MUSLIM,HINDUORANYTHINGELSE.

Theveryfactthatwearealiveisapotentwitnesstothis.Infact,theonlyonewereallyneed.

Itrulyhavecometobelieveasomewhattraumaticbutultimatelyliberatingtruth-maybeitwillbeatruthforyouaswell-thatitisimpossibleinthisworldofsomanypeopleandsomanyvariables,wherethingscanchangeinaheartbeat,tohaveassuranceofansweredprayersorprotection.

Thismaysoundobvioustosome,buttoCatholicsandChristians,whoprayformiraclesandhaveabsolutefaith,itmaybeadifficultthingtoconsider.Also,foranyparentholdingasickordyingchild,foranypersonwhoisindesperate

pain,foranyonelivinginfearandneed,believeme,myfriends,younotonlyhopeforansweredprayersandguaranteesandprotection,youexpecttheminyourdesperateneed.Askanyone,religiousornot,whohasbeenindespairorhorriblecircumstances,andtheywillagree.YoubegintoturnagainstGodifHeisnotforthcoming,torailagainstHimandagainstlifeitself,andsometimesyouevenwishfortotaldestructionthatequalsthedestructiontakingplaceinyourmindandyourheartandyourworld.

Ibelievethattheverybestwehavetoholdontoisthis-thatnomatterwhathappens,wedonotdie.Notthepartofusthatthinks,feels,loves.Weloseeverythingelse,yes.Theearthlyexistence,thebody,butnotthetrueessencesofwhoweare.Thepeoplewehaveknownandlovedarestillexistingbeyondthistimeandspace.

AndGodisreal.Godiswithus.Emmanuel.Heremainswithusnomatterwhathappens,nomatterhowbadthingsget.AndHewillseeusthroughtoanewplaceandtimebeyondthisone.Also,andyouneedtotrustmeonthisone,itisneverconstantnorisiteasy,becauseweourselvesaresoinconstantanddifficult-Goddoesgiveyoutremendouspeaceandmanymanyblessingsinthemidstof

yourpain.Youjusthavetostop,takeabreath,andnotice.BecauseonceyouhavefeltHispresenceandseenvisibleproofthatHeisawareofyouandrespondstoyourpain,believeme,youcanneverturnback.Youmustalwayscontinuetobelieve,forthisisrealityforyounow.Youmaybeangry,confused,doubtful,buttheonethingyouCANNOTDOisforgetthatGodisreal.Fortoyou,now,Healwaysisandalwayswillremainso.Andthatisindeedablessing.
