My Autobiography

My name is Saba Ghebrhewote. I was born in a small town, Asmara, Eritrea. Some people call it “Little Rome.” I speak three languages, and Tegrinia is my first language. I came to the U.S. in 2010 with my son. I believed that the United States had a better educational system than Eritrea, so I decided to come to the U.S. and get a better education for my son.

I have six sisters and one brother, and I am the fourth child in my family. My family lives in Oakland, California, now. A little while before I came here, I got married and had a son, whose name is Kebron. He is six years old. I am now a single mother, and I don’t have a boyfriend, which gives me my own freedom. I grew up in a small town, which is the capital city of business, so I was working in a business, an electronics music shop, as a manager, for ten years. Now, I am studying to prepare for the nursing program at Merritt College, and I am taking three classes: math, grammar, and reading and writing. Also, I like listening to music and dancing.
