BETTER Meningitis Diagnosis

Viruses are the most common cause of meningitis, and more than 90% of them are caused by Enterovirus, and Herpes viruses. Although presenting similar onset, viral and bacterial meningitis are associated with very different outcomes and life-threatening conditions. Rapid and accurate diagnosis by molecular method is thus crucial to identify the viral agent, rule out a bacterial infection, and adapt patient management.

Meningitis Viral ELITe MGB® Panel and Meningitis Viral 2 ELITe MGB® Panel are two multiplex real-time PCR assays for the detection of HSV-1, HSV-2, VZV, and Enterovirus, Parechovirus, Adenovirus respectively. In combination with ELITe InGenius, ELITechGroup’s fully automated sample-to-result solution, they offer laboratories a rapid, easy-to-use and reliable solution for viral meningitis diagnosis.
