Through the establishment of the model centers, STRIDE aims to promote beer linkages and communicaon between universies and the industries that employ its graduates. Former faculty and staff of the Mindanao University of Science and Technology (MUST) who retired in 2011 to 2014 gathered together with the current MUST personnel and other retirees to celebrate the Christmas season during the MUST Cosplay Blast last December 18, 2014 at the university gymnasium.

The venue was filled with excitement as former colleagues exchanged warm greetings before the start of the party.

The 30 retirees were presented plaques of recognition by University President Dr. Ricardo E. Rotoras for their dedication, commitment and invaluable services which has been a great contribution towards the attainment of the University’s vision, mission, goals and objectives.

The first day started out with a visit to SPI’s School of Business Administration, School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, School of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering and School of Life Sciences, Chemical Engineering. A benchmarking of CDIO implementation in Singapore Polytechnic capped off the day.

A focus group discussion with industry representatives from Nestle, Syntactics, Concentrix and FDC Misamis Power Corporation; representatives from the alumni and student leaders; department chairpersons; guidance counselors; and the Academe-Industry Relations (AIRO) Head, Ms. Lera Fay I. Cotiangco, also ensued.

Dr. Garis also emphasized that a Career Center should have career advising, assessment and information of careers, career resource guide for the students to refer to, peer assistance program to help and assist students in making a résumé and a career portfolio. The résumé and portfolio will be stored in the database where students can simply upload their résumé and industries may also be given access for job opportunities.

NEW HIREES. Ms. Leila Bug-os of the Procurement Office and Ms. Lyn Murallon of the Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO) were sworn in as regular employees on January 22, 2015 by Mr. Romeo N. Naces CESO IV, Vice President for Administration and General Services.

COMELEC REGISTRATION. In line with the System of Continuing Registration and to ensure a higher turn-out of registration particularly among student who are 18 years old and above, the Office of the City Election Officer of Cagayan de Oro conducted a satellite registration at the University Gym on January 19 and 20, 2015.

BBL YOUTH CARAVAN. MUSTeans gathered at the Performing Arts Theater on January 28, 2015 to know and discuss the important features of the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL).

The exposure trip was facilitated by the University’s ICT Department; Student Affairs and Welfare Unit (SAWU); IT Department of the College of Industrial and Information Technology (CIIT); Planning, Monitoring and Communication (PMCU); BS TCM student Thea E. Sanchez; BS CE student Cris Allen B. Cirunay; and BS Architecture student Tynne Van Ernee V. Ubaub.

Students take a closer look at the equipment of the Automotive and Mechanical Technology Department.

The workshop proper occurred the following day with a number of preparations of cascading workshop materials by the respective teams. The 3-day workshop culminated with a summing-up session through presentations on CDIO implementation in the Philippines for various universities.
