MusicPeople in Spain liked listening to The Beatles, Credence Clearwater Revival, Deep Purple, The Rolling Stones etc. Raimon, Sisa, Joan Manel Serrat, Maria Diel Mar Bomet were also popular (the new catalon singers) and in Poland people listened to the foreign bands such as The Rolling Stones or The Beatles but also Polish singers like M.Rodowicz, Czerwone Gitary or Skaldowie.

Spanish teenagers spent many hours watching TV. They didn’t read any books at all, and in Poland teenagers also spent their free time in the same way. So we watched TV, read books and newspapers. Nowadays we go out or eat out and in the past , people usually stayed at home.

People from Spain weren’t interested in sport so much as we were. In Poland we watched football matches and we cheered football players at the stadium and at home. Football has been very popular. In Spain they played tennis and Spanish team was famous, too. Football is the main element which connects these countries.

In Spain in 70s a new law was passed. At the age of 14 students could choose Proffesional Studies and then start working or go to “Batxilleract” and then go to university. In Poland, at that time, to get to university, you had to have a lot of points for marks and your origin (for example you got more points when your origin was from countryside).

The school in the 70s in Spain and in Poland was very different from now. Boys were separated from girls. In Spain a lot of children couldn’t continue school because higher education was very expensive. Students in Catalonia studied Spanish language. English was not very much studied. Only French was the second language. In Poland the secondary school was publish and everybody could go there. In the secondary schools in Poland there were four language to choose: Russian, French, English and German

In Spain and Catalonia movies started to be seen in colour. There were a few actors and actresses in Spain. Movies were censored. Catalans used to cross the French border to watch not censored films. In Poland movies were also censored but we could not go abroad to watch uncensored movies. In Spain and in Poland cinema was the way of spending free time.

In Poland TV was broadcasted in black and white. There were two channels. TV was broadcasted from 5.20 p.m. till midnight. In Spain TV started to be seen in colour and on TV there were American soaps. There were many showmen in Spain. The television changed the lives of Spanish and Polish because it opened new worlds and made us dream.

On November 20th, 1975 Spain moped from the dictator ruling to liberal democratic state. The transition began with Francisco Franco’s death. In Spain there were many difficulties in the government, particularly in the government of Juan Carlos in 1976.

In 1976 the changes in constitution of republic of Poland have changed our lives for better.

On June 15th, 1977 there were first democratic elections. There were 4 important political forces acting at the national level.

On March 25, 1977 in Poland, the movement of defending human’s and citizen’s low was created. That was a group with observed human’s law.

On May 17, 1977 there was a political murder on Stanisław Pyjas.

On March 20, 1978 captain Krystyna Chojnowska-Liskiewicz sailed alone around the world on a yacht “Mazurek” as the first woman.

On October 2, 1978 Pole- Karol Wojtyła- became a pope.

On the December 12, 1978 The Spanish constitution was written. That was very important event for Spanish people. In Poland in 1973 the first production of Fiat 126p, a popular nowadays small car, named “Maluch”, was started.

April 1979 there were many floods in north-east and central parts of Poland. After these floods the country was destroyed.

From October 2, 1979 to October 10, 1979 John Paul II, the pope was in Poland, his native country.

70's in Catalonia and Lodz were alike but in Catalonia there were many different variations of politics. Political aspect in Poland were more appealing than in Spain. Lodz had a quite time. We had many factories and many places to work for people from Lodz and surroundings. This city had the same events for exampleIn that time many people moved to Lodz and Catalonia.

Lodz and Catalonia became big cities.In our opinion they are interesting. Many important events happened in these cities. I think we must learn the history of Lodz and Catalonia.

In the 70s it was happening a lot. In Poland this events was good. New channel TVP2 started to broadcast. The band named “Abba” came to Poland and recorded a programme “Abba in Studio 2”. In Lublin new band “Budka Suflera” was created . Founders of this band are Krzysztof Cugowski and Romuald Lipka. Karol Wojtyła, a Pole, became a pope.

In Spain at the beginning was very badly. Franco was a dictator, and put a laws who nobody couldn’t break. During Franco`s time, our language, Catalan, was only spoken at home and the singers couldn’t sing in Catalan. When Franco died Catalunya was freedom. Now everybody could give her or his own opinion. When Franco died, the artist, that before couldn’t act, now yes that can express their feelings. One exemple is Joan Manuel Serrat or Forrmula V, the famous singers of Ave María. Canet rock was a very big concentration of singers. In Poland and in Spain important element was music.
