Challenge: Music is a continuous flow like a river. This fluidity can be symbolic in the sense of dynamic elements. Designing such elements would indeed be an unusual phenomenon. Architecture too manifests endless, free flowing spontaneous images of enclosures, spaces, elements, and volumes. Our vision flows with an infinite continuity with these elements, just like in music, our mind flows with rhythms. But, the challenge lies in the manifestation of this musical phenomenon through an architecture that is meant for music. The development of my research thesis was driven by this simple question. The project - music academy is the result of one year of my research in music. This research was documented in the form of a short dissertation – ‘Manifestations of music through architecture’. This research later on helped me extensively in designing elements, spaces, forms, and volumes that possibly would manifest the dynamics of music. This literal transformation of fluidity of music through architecture imparts a quality to a building as easily identifiable as a space for music.
