1. BUSHCARE GROUP GOALS
The Murray Garden Reserve Bushcare Group’s goal is to rehabilitate the Murray Garden reserve, following large scale woody weed removal of Privet and lantana. The priority goals for the group are as follows:
1. Maintain existing planted areas for weeds and deal with deer issue. 2. Hand pull weedy saplings, cut and paint small woody weeds and
frill mature Privets 3. Plant suitable tubestock; if natural regeneration is not sufficient to
increase structural diversity

3. MURRAY GARDEN RESERVE BUSHCARE GROUP ACTIVITIES TABLE (to be in conjunction with attached site map) NOTE: Priority should be rated as 1 = High (within 12 months); 2 = Medium (1-3 years); 3 = Low
GROUP ACTION PRIORITY METHOD TIME Control weed vines such as Madeira, cape ivy and moth vine.
1
Control woody weeds and re shooting Lantana. Woody weeds include, large leaf and small leaf privet, Ochna and Senna. Start by cutting and painting young privets, Senna and Ochna while systematically frilling mature Privets in suitable areas and leaving to die in situ to aid in habitat value.
2
Replant suitable plant species to increase canopy cover to shade out weeds in open areas and increase diversity. This includes planting ground and mid story mesic species for small bird habitat and species diversity. #there may be no need for this in some areas of the reserve if there is sufficient natural regeneration. Deer will most likely be a problem with young plants.
