Executive Order 569

Establishing an Integrated Climate Change Strategy for the

Commonwealth

Additional GHG reduction/mitigation components

“The Secretary of Energy and Environmental Affairs and the

Secretary of Public Safety shall coordinate efforts across the

Commonwealth to strengthen the resilience of our

communities, prepare for the impacts of climate change, and to

prepare for and mitigate damage from extreme weather

events.”

– Statewide Climate Adaptation Plan (and update every 5 yrs)

– Each Executive Office – vulnerability assessments and adaptation

plans

– Establish framework for cities and towns to assess vulnerabilities

and identify strategies for adaptation

– Implement and update

cities and towns (20% of state’s municipalities)

Communities received grants to complete planning process

and receive designation by June 2018

Designation – eligible to compete for upcoming

implementation funds

Funded through Five-Year Capital Plan
