THANKS FOR THE VARIETY
The efforts, interest and support of all involved ensured last Friday night’s program was indeed an enjoyable variety of entertainment. It included a very professional excerpt from the upcoming “Grease” performance, instrumental music from drums, flute, piano and guitar, singers, stand-up comedienne and some extremely amusing skits performed anonymously or in such great costumes that anonymity was achieved by many Jaycettes and Rotarians, school staff and their friends. The backstage management, sound and lights were a credit to the providers and we thank the MC for keeping the night flowing smoothly. Lucky door prizes were won by Wendy Wallis and Sharon MacDonald. Raffle winners were Kirsten Gagen and Gayle Pott. Thanks to all contributors and audience members. CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR STATE SWIMMERS Well done to the girls who recently represented Wide Bay in the state swimming
championships.
Great work We congratulate the girls who recently represented Wide Bay in the state swimming championships. Their dedication and commitment to training gained rewards: Tayleigh Fry-Allan (elected Under 12 female team captain) swam 14th in relay
and 1st in 200m breast stroke, 2nd in 400 individual medley and 3rd in 100m breast
stroke as well as competing in other events. Tayleigh has been selected in the state
team to travel to Darwin.
Skye Ward swam the 800m, 400m and 200m freestyle events, achieving close to her
personal best performances.
Sophie Zipf achieved a personal best (31.02) in the 50m freestyle, and swam well in
the 100m freestyle. Sophie also swam in the 4x50m Freestyle relay and swam the
freestyle leg of the medley relay.
It was a great experience for the girls, being part of the Wide Bay Swimming Team.

SCHOOL PHOTOS Our school photos will be taken on the first Wednesday of term 1. Photo ordering will take place AFTER photo day, not before. Further information will be provided to families after the holidays. LACE WINGS All year levels have been growing their own lace wing insects over the last 3 weeks. They have just hatched and were released into the schools horticulture plot. These insects were supplied by ‘Bugs for Bugs’ and they are beneficial insects that help keep aphids numbers down in our gardens, keeping our vegetable safe.
YEAR 6 SCIENCE For their science assessment, Year 6 students applied their knowledge of reversible and irreversible changes of materials to plan and conduct a fair test. They were required to heat and cool a range of substances and observe the changes. “I classified any change as reversible if the material returned to the same colour and state after it was heated and then cooled.” “A change was classified as irreversible if the material changed colour and texture, or if the material produced a gas.” TUCKSHOP Thanks to all who support the school tuckshop. There will be tuckshop as usual in the first week back from holidays.
