What is intelligence ?
• Intelligence is an ability to cope with situations
• Human intelligence is diversified• Currently 8 intelligences are
discovered so it is known as multiple intelligence
Types of intelligence
• Verbal Linguistic• Logical-Mathematical • Spatial• Bodily-Kinesthetic • Musical • Interpersonal • Intrapersonal • Natural
Verbal linguistic intelligence
• These people are sensitive to sounds, structure, meanings, and functions of words and language.
• They like: – To listen– To speak – To read– To write – Have large vocabulary – More articulate – Have sharp memory
Teaching by verbal intelligence
• Story telling • Brainstorming • Tape recording • Journal writing • Publishing
Logical mathematical intelligence• These people are sensitive to logical and
numerical patterns, able to handle long chain of reasoning.
• They like: – To count– Develop idea in the absence of object– Like comprehension or shorter version – Like puzzles and games – Prefer to put things in order – Like to solve problems – Want to study and experiment through

• Calculation and quantification• Classifications and categorizations • Socratic questioning • Scientific thinking
Spatial intelligence
• These people are sensitive to visual world and one’s initial perception.
• They like to: – Think about the content of a picture– Try to remember with the help of picture – Like to draw and colour – Like to make shapes and objects – Understand map, chart etc. easily – Can think of an image easily – Can use metaphor
Teaching by spatial intelligence
• Visualization • Colour cues • Idea sketching • Graphic symbols
Bodily kinesthetic intelligence
• These people are sensitive to controlling body movement and handle objects skillfully.
• They like to: – Play sports and games– Want to touch and hold easily – Are skilled in handicraft – Have control over body and limbs – Learn easily through participation – Learn easily by doing rather than seeing
or listening

• Body answers, movements etc. • Practical and craft work • Classroom theater/drama• Participatory approaches
Musical intelligence
• These people are sensitive to music, rhythm, pitch. They also appreciate the forms of musical expressiveness.
• They like to: – Listen music and rhymes – Recite – Play instruments – Attracted by natural sounds

• Rhythms and songs• Through rhymes • Mood music
Interpersonal intelligence
• These people are sensitive to the moods, temperaments, motivations and desires of other people.
• They can: – Easily understand others mind– Develop relation with others easily – Have many friends – Help others to resolve their problems – Prefer to work in groups – Understand social conditions
Use of interpersonal intelligence
• Peer sharing • Cooperative group works• Simulation
Intrapersonal intelligence
• These people are sensitive to one’s own feeling, life and emotion.
• They like to: – Stay alone – Think more – Want to learn independently – Predict future situation – Understand his/her own strengths and
weakness – Keep apart from many social events
Use of intrapersonal intelligence
• Ask for individual reading• One-minute reflection period • Imagination • Thinking
Natural intelligence
• These people are sensitive to natural phenomena and remains close to nature.
• They like to: – Enjoy natural beauty– Like natural sounds and rhythms – Remain in natural setting – Like natural sounds– Like animal, plant and landscape
Use of natural intelligence
• Sight seeing • Study tour • Use natural surrounding • Link up with natural phenomena
Therefore try to accommodate more thanone intelligence in your teaching exercise
