Showers are Multi-Gen friendly.

In designing a bathroom that is truly multi-generational, or universally user-friendly, showers emerge as the “unsung hero” of this endeavor, providing an attractive, versatile and functional solution to the challenge.

Showers are multi-gen design-friendly for 3 reasons:

• Transfer Ease — high. Showers are easier to enter and exit than tubs.

• Transfer Time — low. Because entrance and exit are easier, transfer time is less.

• Resting Ease — high. Showers offer seating options inside and out for resting during transfer or showering.

MTI has a large assortment of sizes of low-profile multiple-threshold shower bases. The threshold height is a mere 2-1/2” to 3”, which makes access very easy for all. Available in both acrylic and Engineered Solid Stone , the multiple-threshold feature provides great design and installation flexibility for bathroom integration.

MTSB-6036Seated acrylic shower base, shown above, has a low threshold height for easy access, and the integrated seat is a convenient feature for household members of various ages. Additional sizes are availableranging from 48” x 32” up to 60” x 48”.

Teak is one of the world’s most valuable hardwoods.Used in shipbuilding for centuries, it contains a natural oil to retard water and keep the wood from warping, cracking or becoming brittle. Teak wood also has the natural ability to ward-off fungi, mold and mildew, making it an ideal choice for the moist, wet environment of the bathroom. MTI genuine teak products are manufactured using only 100% U.S.- certified, legal, reclaimed, sustainable teak.

If a zero-barrier shower entrance is required, MTI offers two solutions.

• When used in combination with a teak shower tray, a flat, barrier-free transfer surface is created between bathroom floor and shower.

MTI’s high-quality, versatile shower enclosures can contribute to the design of a multi-gen shower space.

Shown above is the MTSB-SS7236HD low-profile multiple-threshold shower base with hidden drain, constructed of MTI’s Engineered Solid Stone material. The Shower Shield contains shower water and offers clean looks and ample accessibility.

Select Shower Shield or full shower enclosure.• All feature a true frameless design and no old-fashioned headers for a clean, uncluttered appearance as well as convenient entry and exit, even for tall persons.

• Glass doors and panels are constructed of substantially-thick tempered safety glass.

• For strength and durability, hardware attaches through the glass to ensure security and long-term proper alignment.

MTI’s multiple-threshold bases can be equipped with one or more sides of glass, providing ample room and a wonderful feeling of open spaciousness.

• Shown above to the left is the Shower Shield. Pivoting panel opens outward a full 180° for easy access and inward 20° to contain water.

• If a wider entrance is required, the full enclosure at top right can be selected. Shown in 2-sided glass version, it features sliding glass doors that glide effortlessly with rollers along an overhead stainless steel rail to provide easy, wide entrance to the shower.

The Shower Shield uses solid brass square hinges that mount though the glass for long-term durability and alignment.

The full enclosures use solid stainless steel rollers that travel on a solid stainless steel bar.

Shower bases are certainly universal design-friendly because they accommodate a wide range of ages and needs. They are also versatile because entry and exit are quick and easy. However, there are therapies and benefits only available in tubs. Such as a soaking bath that promotes relaxation through the warmth and buoyancy of the water. Or the light full-body massage of an air bath. Or the deep-tissue massage of a whirlpool. MTI has over 150 available tub models in all sizes, shapes and styles, combining great design with comfort and practicality. If specific requirements call for a very shallow tub, MTI has 26 models that are only 19” high or less, making entry and exit more user-friendly and a little less challenging. Three particularly beautiful and clever tub models are perfect for universal design situations: the Metro 1, 2 and 3. • The Metros exhibit clean, contemporary design and feature a generously wide front deck of 11”.

• The wide ledge serves as a convenient transfer surface.

• The bather can sit down on the ledge and then turn into the tub instead of climbing over the tub wall.

TK-REMTSEATThe tub seat shown below is designed for use with armrests in Andrea Series tubs and the MTDS-79 Madelyn tub. Andrea tubs can be specified with armrests at the time of tub ordering, and the Mad-elyn comes with armrests as standard.

TK-TSEAT3215, TK-TSEAT3615 AND TK-TSEAT4215This tub seat is available in 32”, 36” abd 42” lengths to accommodate tubs of varying widths with a flat top edge. The seat is automatically held in a raised position by a stainless hinge bracket attached to the end of the tub seat. When the seat is lowered into the down position, the seat must rest securely on the tub flange for support.

The MTI Walk-In Tub is made specifically for those who want / need a tub and are challenged by mobility factors. Available as a soaker, air bath or whirlpool, with or without premium factory-installed valve package. Optionally, MTI’s Radiance heating system may be added, which uses radiant heat to warm the seat and backrest area of the tub before, during and after the bath for increased bather comfort.
