Mulching Plugs Many of our lawnmowers are now able to “mulch” grass clippings as well as collect or discharge them. This is possible thanks to a “Mulching Plug” which when fitted, blocks the discharge hole in the lawnmower deck. With the Mulching Plug in place, the freshly cut grass is held under the lawnmower deck rather than being collected in the grassbag. Here it is cut into very small pieces and blown back into the grass to help fertilise your lawn. The Mulching Plug is normally already installed in the lawnmower at the time of purchase. If you find that the grass isn’t being collected when using the lawnmower for the first time, or can’t find the Mulching Plug in the box, please check to see if the Mulching Plug is already in place on your lawnmower. The Mulching Plug will be either yellow or black in colour and can be located by lifting the deflector plate at the back of your mower as shown below in fig 1. All our Mulching Plugs are very similar and their location, installation and removal, as a result this guide covers all our walk behind lawnmowers. fig 1 - The yellow mulching plug can been seen by raising the deflector plate www.servicelink.org.uk

Mulching Plugs

Many of our lawnmowers are now able to “mulch” grass clippings as well as collect or discharge them.

Removing the Mulching PlugTo remove the Mulching Plug, raise the deflector at the rear of the lawnmower and locate the Mulching Plug.

Squeeze the Mulching Plug in between the two cutting out’s on the rear of the Mulching Plug to release it from the lawnmower.

Lift the rear of the Mulching Plug tilting it slightly as you do so.

Remove the Mulching Plug from the lawnmower and store in a safe place.

The Mulching Plug is made from a very tough plastic and no maintenance is required for this item.

The grassbag can now be fitted to the rear of the lawnmower to collect the grass clippings instead of Mulching them.

Fit the grassbag on the rear of the lawnmower and lower the deflector.
