February 25

5:30pm – Fellowship Hall Shrove Tuesday is the day before Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent. Lent is a time of personal introspection and fasting leading us to Holy Week. Tradition has Lent as a time of abstinence from meat, fat, eggs and dairy product. Shrove Tuesday is also called Fat Tuesday (in French, Mardi Gras) because it is said on that day a thrifty homemaker uses up the fats that have been kept for cooking, but that will not be used during Lent. Since pancakes are a standard way of using up the fats in the house, the day is also called Pancake Tuesday!

Join us on Tuesday, February 25 at 5:30 p.m. for our celebration of Fat Tuesday or Pancake Tuesday. Let’s help Doris use up a lot of fats and enjoy a pancake supper.

February 26 @ 6:30

p.m.

You are invited to

a Farewell Reception

for Matt and Carol Woodberry

immediately following

the 11:00 a.m. worship services

Our next Joining Sunday at Mulberry is on February 16. This is an opportunity for you to join Mulberry with others who are ready to take that step. You can join at any of the three services. At 10:00 a.m. on Joining Sunday our clergy will host Coffee with the Pastor in our church parlor. Whether you are ready to join or are thinking about taking the step, we invite you to this event to interact with our pastors and to ask any questions you might have about Mulberry. Please contact Rev. Jeff Cook at [email protected] or 745-8601 to let him know if you would like to join and/or to attend Coffee with the Pastor.

Thank You for Souper Bowl of Caring

Thank you for your generosity! We celebrated the SOUPER Bowl of Caring on Sunday, February 2. What started in a local church in Columbia, S.C., 30 years ago has grown to a national movement on Super Bowl Sunday where all the proceeds go to help feed the poor and hungry in their local communities across the U.S.

On Sunday morning, the youth of Mulberry Street UMC collected over $400 after services, all of which goes to Macon Outreach. In the afternoon, we co-hosted a very successful and enthusiastic hymn festival, HOPE: A Vision for 2020, at Northminster Presbyterian Church, at which over $600 was given. The afternoon proceeds have been divided between Macon Outreach and Loaves & Fishes, one of our sister missions for the poor and hungry in Macon.

This $700 for Macon Outreach and $300 for Loaves & Fishes translates directly into providing meals for those without sufficient food in Macon. Thank you for your generosity.

Altar Flowers The following Sundays are available in the Chapel to give

flowers: February 23, March 29. If you would like to give flowers on one of these Sundays,

please contact Heidi Ream, [email protected] or 478-542-2895.

Tuesday Disciple Group Study Our Tuesday night Disciple group will have a 6-week study and discussion of The Walk- Five Essential Practices of the Christian Life, by Adam Hamilton, from March 3 - April 7. We begin at 6:30 p.m. with brown bag supper and finish at 8:15 p.m. Reading the book is encouraged, not required. Please call Sam or Gini Lamback, (478) 719-2182.

Join us for Coffee in the Parlor to welcome Rev. Creede and Bonnie Hinshaw

“back” to Mulberry on Sunday, March 1 at 9:45 a.m.
