I have a lot of things to do. I have a lot of work to do.

Do you have many things to do? Do you have much work to do?

No, I don’t have many things to do. No, I don’t have much work to do.

Much en many betekenen allebei veel.

Je gebruik much en many alleen bij vragen en ontkennende zinnen.

Bij positieve zinnen gebruik je a lot of.

Much en many betekenen allebei veel.

Je gebruik much en many alleen bij vragen en ontkennende zinnen.

Bij positieve zinnen gebruik je a lot of: He has a lot of clothes.

Toch is er een verschil tussen much en many.

Much gebruik je alleen voor ontelbare zelfstandige naamwoorden; milk,

energy, snow, money, air, grass, etc.

I haven’t got much money.

I haven’t got many euros.

I have a lot of money/euros.

naamwoorden: little en few.

He has little money left.

Hij heeft weinig geld over.

There are very few chairs left.

Er zijn heel weinig stoelen over.

Little en few betekenen dus allebei weinig.

a little en a few betekenen weer iets heel anders...
