A Look at Service

This semester our mem-

bers have asked to work

with local food banks,

animal shelters, and nurs-

ing homes so we will be

working to provide a va-

Section 30 Relations

We are also working to-

throughout Section 30.

The goal is to partner

with other APO chapters

in our area to benefit a

larger community. So

far we have attended an

event called “Bags of

Gamma Theta chapter in

Boulder and we hope to

continue the trend of

Attending Nationals for

APO was most likely the best

choice I have ever made. This

opportunity taught me so much

about how the national frater-

nity operates as well taught me

how much my fellow brothers

mean to me. I was blessed to

have created lasting relation-

ships with brothers from Gam-

ma Theta and Epsilon Xi.

Additionally, I got to

participate in historic changes

to the Toast song, as it no long-

A Look at Fellowship

Spring 2017 fellowship events are in

full swing. Back to School BBQ, Game Night,

and the Big Little Potluck have already passed

with great success. During Big Little Potluck,

members got to show off their mad cooking

skills by making delicious dishes such as jala-

peño poppers, chili, and sopapilla cheesecake.

Retreat is March 11th and will be an

overnight event at the Student Recreation

Center. During this fun event, APO members

will get to utilize the rock wall and hot tubs as

well as play classic games like werewolf. It

will be a great way to build the famous APO

brotherhood! We are also looking forward to

Formal in April.

In 2014, Mu Pi Leadership restarted the

Section 30 Leadership Day in order to provide an

opportunity for APO LEADS courses in the spring.

In the past, this was an event put on by alumni vol-

unteers to train executive board members. It went

into a brief hiatus several years ago, but was re-

vived when Mu Pi installed a VP of Leadership.

Since then, we have hosted it each spring.

Due to CSM hosting Section 30 Conference

in the fall, we decided to bring the option to the

section to have Leadership Day be on a rotational

schedule similar to Section 30 Conference. On

Saturday, February 18th, Alpha Eta Iota at Denver

University hosted the first Leadership Day on an-

other campus since its reboot.

The Leadership Committee here at Mu Pi

has also taken on a chair position for inter-chapter

relations. One of our CAPS goals was to increase

our communications and interactions with local

chapters. In order to do this, we decided to appoint

a chair to facilitate planning events with other

chapters. We have also sought out the help of Sec-

tion 30 staff in order to create an email blast sys-

tem to keep the section informed of each chapter’s

upcoming major events, struggles, and accomplish-

ments.

While many officers may be fa-

miliar, we’ve added some new

faces to our executive board as

well. Additionally, we have had

some officers mix it up and jump

into different leadership roles.

This executive board is excited to

make Spring 2017 a great semes-

ter for APO!

Meet the Spring 2017 Pledge Class

We are so excited to wel-

come the pledge class of Spring

2017. They are small but definitely

mighty! All five of these pledges

have taken on pledge class officer

positions and their ideas are al-

ready flowing. Mu Pi chapter is

highly competitive, and this pledge

class is no different! The pledge

class challenge is already being

planned and it’s sure to be a messy

one. The five pledges we are

blessed to welcome come from all

levels of schooling: 3 sophomores,

1 freshman, and 1 junior. This va-

riety of ages has not divided this

pledge class; in fact, it may have

even brought them closer together.

They come from varying degrees but all have the desire to start serving (or continue serving)

and become better leaders in Alpha Phi Omega. Two of them even began that journey by attending

Section 30 Leadership Day. Our officers have learned a lot about the rush and recruiting this semes-

ter and we look forward to when we can put our new ideas to work for rush Fall 2017!
