Rex RussellLaramie, WY

Rex , wife Sarah, and four kids, live inLaramie, Wy. Rex works on a yearlingoutfit, where they buy calves in the fall, wean them, straighten them outthrough the winter, and run them ongrass during the summer. He does a lotof his work alone, so his horses getused quite a bit, for things like doctor-ing, sorting, moving, or loading steers. The cattle are on meadows all winterand some real rough country comesummer. So at times Rex has to pushhis horses pretty hard, but he figuresthat does two things. One the horseprogresses in his abilities, and two hegets to know how that horse is going tohandle a tight spot, cause life doesn't al-ways deal us the perfect setup. Rexuses his horse as an extension of him-self, so horses have to be willing andsupple, to move any part of himself anytime asked. Rex knows he isn’t perfectand neither are his horses, so there's al-ways room for improvement on bothsides of the saddle. He really enjoysworking with horses and learning newways to teach them.
