Program HistoryMoorestown’s Integrated Preschool Program began

in 2009 in response to the need to educate our students with special needs in the Least Restrictive

Environment with their typical peers and in their neighborhood school.

Our Integrated Preschool Program benefits all students.

and 5 students with special needs.○ A dual certified teacher (Early Childhood Ed../Special Ed.)

○ A classroom paraprofessional Preschool classes are offered at Roberts Elementary and South Valley Elementary

Research-based Development of cognitive and social-emotional self-regulation concurrently while academic skills are taught Current research shows that self-regulation has a stronger association with school readiness than IQ or entry-level reading or math skills. Aspects of self-regulation including the ability to pay attention, remember on purpose, plan one’s actions, reflect on one’s thinking, cooperate and act empathetically toward peers influences future school success.

Children plan their play every day. The play plan describes the child’s role and actions. A picture is drawn of the plan. First, they tell the plan orally and as they develop, they will begin to use scaffolded writing.
