Papagayo Zip Line & ATV Adventure Combination We guarantee 100% adrenaline!!! In the Gold Season this will be a dusty ride, during the Green Season a muddy ride, adventure is guaranteed! Each driver will be given an ATV and may be accompanied by a fellow passenger of their choice. The driving is performed in private lands surrounded by the tropical dry forest. This activity is recommended for persons that already have ridden a semi-automatic ATV vehicle. After about 1 hour for driving in the jungle trails participants will finish in the departure area for the zip line adventure, where after a briefing will depart to the first platform. As you fly down 11 suspended cables and walk across three hanging bridges, gaze at amazing views of Guanacaste farmlands and crocodiles lazing on the riverbanks. Wave Runner Horseback Riding Adventure Our adventure starts at Playa Blanca where each participant will ride an automatic Wave Runner for about 45 minutes crossing the Gulf of Papagayo to Panama Beach. After the sea adventure our healthy Criollo horses will be ready to start the tour on the beach and later in the mountain to enjoy the diversity of Guanacaste’s territory. The horseback riding adventure will finish in Panamá Beach where the Wave Runners will be ready for additional 45 minutes of fun returning to the Andaz. Experience is necessary. Guaitil Pottery Village Just outside of Santa Cruz is the village of Guaitil. Artists here have rescued a disappearing tradition by producing original pottery in the manner of pre-Columbian Chorotega Indians. The hand-wrought pots, jars, dishes, and urns are painted with natural earth-based pigments before being fired in a stone kiln and polished with a natural glaze. Your expert Guide will take you in a cultural visit to Guaitil and lecture about Costa Rica’s traditions and culture, where an outstanding and visible facet of the people’s heritage is definitely the ancient and colorful pottery works. Walking Tour in Playa El Coco Village The closest town to the Andaz, is Playas del Coco Village, the route passes through small villages, cattle farmlands and awesome views of the close mountain range covered with tropical dry forest. During the journey your destination expert will brief you on important local information. Upon arrival to El Coco we will pay a short visit to Congo the finest local crafts shop in the area. Later at the Downtown Boulevard participants will walk by several arts & crafts stores, art galleries and the local open-air market that offers the most authentic crafts produced locally. Free time will be allowed to revisit or to self explore for new findings. El Coco Village is a town with an interesting blend of modern and local architecture. You will see open air restaurants, artisans selling inexpensive jewelry and small crafts on the sidewalks also enjoy the local appeal of this unique fishing coastal community.

ATV Adventure at Pink Flower Hacienda This mountain tour is considered one of the most exciting trips across the dry forest of Guanacaste region, parts of it are flat and other mountainous, expect the roads to be dusty and rocky. During the months from January to April you will experience may blooming trees including the Yellow Cortéz, the Pink Oak Sabana Tree, the Pride of the Indian among many others, including huge ficus trees that provide great shade. Performed in a private Guanacastecan Hacienda, this adventure offers a good ride for both experienced and beginners. Part of the tour is done in the tropical dry forest as you reach a look out, being Playa Iguanita the farthest you will get, your guide will allow sometime to get a quick dip in the water in case that you do not mind returning to your ATV adventure a little wet. The excursion is accompanied by guides that will be with you at all times to ensure you take the most advantage of your adventure and to assist you with any mechanical issue that may arise. Wave Runner Adventure Our adventure starts at Playa Sombrero Claro, where we gather the group, all participants will get a detailed lecture on the operational aspects of the functioning of the semi-automatic wave runner. The models we use are very user friendly, nevertheless, we want to ensure your most comfort and enjoyment of the adventure. Each participant will ride an automatic Wave Runner for about 60 minutes touring in a loop the Gulf of Papagayo. During the tour, you will have the opportunity to witness the beauty of the beaches and coastline surrounding the Bahía Culebra and nearby beaches. The vessel can be shared with your favorite person, just consider that the space will be tight and the normally the days are very sunny. If you are lucky dolphins and other fish will make themselves visible including various species of seabirds. Experience is necessary. Maximum weight limitations for participants apply on this tour. Children must be at least 12 years old and accompanied by a parent.

Full-day Activities Jungle Boat Safari at Palo Verde National Park & Hacienda El Viejo. Palo Verde National Park is set in the Tempisque River basin. As you boat along river, you can spot a fabulous array of wild birds and myriad creatures, such as howler monkeys, green iguanas and coatis. You may also be lucky enough to catch glimpses of other exotic animals such as anteaters or crocodiles basking in the sun. The park comprises 14,100 acres of tropical dry forest, protecting a wide variety of wildlife, lakes, grasslands, woodlands and both deciduous and evergreen forests, where the namesake “Palo Verde” (horse bean tree), grows. The park is a bird watcher’s paradise, and provides shelter for a great diversity of bird species. The boat ride at the Tempisque River, is one of the best bird watching tours in the country, our naturalist guides will point out birds, amphibians, reptiles and mammals that make their home at one of Costa Rica’s largest crocodile sanctuaries. Found in one of the historic sugar cane plantations in the town of Filadelfia, El Viejo Wetlands is home to some of the greatest natural assets in the Costa Rican northwest due to its proximity to the great Palo Verde National Park. Our tour includes lunch visit at the early 1900´s historic house landmark of the Hacienda. Here the local traditions come to life.

Buena Vista 4 in 1 Ecotur Located on the slopes of Rincón de la Vieja Volcano, Buena Vista is a charming hacienda comprising 4,000 acres, 60% of which are primary forest. It offers a multitude of possibilities. Buena Vista Lodge is the perfect place for nature and adventure lovers. Its main attractions are the zip line canopy tour, rain forest suspended bridges, giant water slide, thermal waters, steam bath, natural spa, and acres of virgin forest, waterfalls and horseback riding. Tenorio River White Water Rafting Class III & IV The Tenorio River will test your mettle with its class III and IV rapids (irregular and medium waves, complex maneuverings in fast class III rapids; intense and powerful but predictable class IV whitewater). This trip is a must for experienced rafters. Its continuous challenges wait as you plunge through twists, turns and drops down 18 miles of intense, heart-pumping rapids. All participants must be in good shape. The river run lasts approximately 4 hours and includes a riverside lunch of sandwiches, fresh fruit, beverages and snacks.

Colorado Canyon River Tubing & Zip line Adventure The Zip line adventure tour is an adventure like no other. You will experience great heights and thrills as you sail through the trees in this tropical dry forest and the incredible slot canyon of the Colorado River. After some instruction, you will zip from platform to platform on steel cables feeling the adrenaline as you take in the panoramic views of the forest, the slot canyon and the nature surrounding you. You will also travel across one hanging bridge and be up in the trees and the river canyon for a little bit over an hour. Constructed with the best materials there are 9 lines and 14 platforms crossing 8 times the Colorado Canyon with a total length of 3630 feet. All participants will descend the class I and II rapids at Rio Colorado Canyon Negro using a special type of soft rubber tube also called individual rafting tube. Each person will be provided with life jacket and helmet in this way we ensure that top safety and enjoyment of the adventure are guaranteed. Participants will see this canyon of volcanic origin from the river bottom and embrace nature as you feel the flow of the water.

Rincón de la Vieja Volcano National Park

Enjoy an exciting day of hiking through the bountiful Rincon de La Vieja National Park with an experienced naturalist guide on this tour. During this nature hike you will be neighboring the main entrance of the most visited sector of the Rincón de la Vieja Volcano section of “Las Pailas”. During the hike witness hot boiling mud ponds, steaming rivers, mini craters and fumaroles. The trekking trails will take you through virgin cloud forest, spring waterfalls and volcanic activity. This is an all-day tour and includes quite a bit of hiking some of which is quite challenging. We do the shorter hike within the park that includes visits to waterfalls and bubbling mud pits. Lunch will be served at the Cañon de La Vieja Restaurant.

Colorado Canyon River Kayaking & Zipline Adventure The Canopy tour is an adventure like no other. After some instruction, you will zip from platform to platform on steel cables feeling the adrenaline as you take in the panoramic views of the forest, the slot canyon and the nature surrounding you. Constructed with the best materials there are 9 lines and 14 platforms crossing 8 times the Colorado Canyon with a total length of 3630 feet. All participants will descend the class I and II rapids at Rio Colorado Canyon Negro using a special type of soft kayak called ducky, a modified type of 2-person inflatable kayak. Each person will be riding with an expert river guide in each kayak using a double paddle, in this way we ensure that top safety and enjoyment of the adventure are guaranteed. Participants will see this canyon of volcanic origin from the river bottom and embrace nature as you feel the flow of the water.
