MT NEBO LEADERSHIP TRAINING
Juan Conway, PastorDecember 10th & 11th
LEADERSHIP BASICS OVERVIEW
• Church Purpose• Body Life• Great Commission • Church’s Character• Church’s PowerHe (Jesus) is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all
things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. (Col. 1:15-18)

Church Purpose"'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." (Matt. 22:37-40)
MNMBC
Body LifeThe body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. (1 Cor. 12:12)
MNMBC
Great Commission
All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. (Matt. 28: 18-20)
MNMBC
Church’s Character
But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. (1 Pet. 1: 15-16)
MNMBC
Church’s Power
By his power he may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith. (2 Thess. 1:11)

LEADERSHIP QUALITIES
OVERVIEWMNMBC
Be an Example
Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, serving as overseers--not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. (1 Pet. 5:2-3)
MNMBC
Be a Guide
Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye. (Matt. 7:3-5)
MNMBC
Be a Servant
The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve." (Matt. 20:28)
MNMBC
Be a Shepherd
Shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight not under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and not for sordid gain, but with eagerness; nor yet as lording it over those allotted to your charge, but proving to be examples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. (1 Pet. 5:2-4)

LEADERSHIP SKILLS
OVERVIEWMNMBC
Assessment
You are not God so you must "in all your ways acknowledge Him" (Prov. 3:5-6). Assessment apart from God is an act of futility for "there is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death (destruction)" (Prov. 16:25)
MNMBC
Communication
-- Trusting in God brings good direction and success. (Prov. 3:5-6; 14:12)-- Depending on God brings renewal and the ability to soar. (Isa. 40:28-31; Phil. 4:13)
MNMBC
Coordination
We will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. . . . From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. (Eph. 4:15-16)
MNMBC
Delegation
God designed the Church to be interdependent, with everyone working for the greater good. God never intended for one person to do it all. If you are overworked and doing something someone else can do, don't let pride keep you from asking for help. Give others opportunity to participate
MNMBC
Goal-Setting & Vision Casting
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. (Prov. 3:5-6)
MNMBC
Listening
Be still and cease striving so you can hear His voice in the midst of the clutter and noise around you.
Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earthpart does its work. (Psalms 46:10)
MNMBC
OrganizationThe Church, as a living organism, has members designed to function in specific ways but also a sense of coordination and interdependence.
And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. (1 Corinthians 12:20)
And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it. (1 Corinthians 12:26)
MNMBC
Staffing The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. (Matt. 9:37-38)
From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work." (Eph. 4:16)
MNMBC
Strategic Planning A simple man believes anything, but a prudent man gives thought to his steps. (Prov. 14:15)
In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps. (Prov. 16:9)
MNMBC
MY COMMAND IS THIS: LOVE EACH OTHER AS I HAVE LOVED YOU. GREATER LOVE HAS NO ONE THAN THIS, THAT HE LAY DOWN HIS LIFE FOR HIS FRIENDS. (JOHN 15:12-13)
Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. (Mark 10:43-45)
