CARTRIDGE MOUNTED DOUBLE GAS SEAL
EAGLE Mechanical Seals
The NF992 is a pump seal development of the highlysuccessful,
and technically advanced, NF900 dry gas sealinstalled in many
hundreds of turbo compressor and blowerapplications.Process and
chemical pumps in hazardous applicationconventionally use liquid
lubricated, double or tandem sealarrangements to prevent liquid
leakage or hazardousemissions. These seal configurations are
subject to rapidfailure and leakage to atmosphere when liquid
pressure, orcirculation, is lost. Contamination of the sealant
liquid overtime is also a frequent problem.
The NF992 is a complete answer to these failure modesand in
addition only requires a relatively simple buffer gasinjection
system instead of large and complex liquidcirculation systems.
Specific Features of NF992 Zero leakage to atmosphere, ideal for
hazardous media. Non-contacting design reduces power consumption to
asmall fraction of that used by liquid seals. The internal, or
product side, seal contains the media atthe seal outside diameter.
No centrifugal effects to drivecontaminants across the seal
faces.
Separate labyrinth over inner rotating seat to
minimisecontaminants in seal face area. Product side seal equipped
with SiC faces and seats fordurability and to resist abrasive
particles in the seal area. Minimal usage of buffer gas. Double
balanced. In the event of losing buffer gaspressure the internal
seal will not open but function as aconventional liquid lubricated
seal until corrective action istaken to restore buffer gas
pressure. Bi-directional. Eliminates possibility of mis-fitting and
willoperate normally in either direction.
