Double win for Motul in the Emirates!

The FIA GT1 World Championship opened last wee-

kend at the ultramodern Yas Marina circuit in Abu

Dhabi. As in 2010, among the teams participating,

three are supported technically by Motul. These are of

course the team Hexis Aston Martin Racing which, it

should be remembered, won the title of vice-champion

last year, and also the two Nismo teams - namely JR

Motorsports and Sumo Power GT.

Following an eventful race marked by much battling

and sudden new developments, it was nally the crew

Clivio Piccione / Stef Dusseldorp which managed to

clinch rst place on the so coveted podium. This per-

formance is all the more remarkable because, after

good results in F3, Stef Dusseldorp was participating

in his rst GT race! On top of this win, this 21 year old

Dutchman even went as far as containing the assaults

of a certain Richard Westbrook who was nally to ar-

rive only 474 tenths of a second from rst place.

Another Motul team podiumed, that of Richard West-

brook / Peter Dumbreck (Nissan GT-R, Team JR Mo-

torsports), which took the second step.

After this exceptional result, its a sure bet that the Mo-

tul teams will be bent on repeating this exploit at the

second round of the season at Zolder on 10 April.

In the forefront for several seasons now, with in parti-

cular Josh Fredericks title in 2010, the Canam/Mo-

toworcs team appears to be well on the way to domi-

nating the ATV category this year.

Motul has been the technical partner of this ambitious

and highly structured team for several years. With its

ve ofcial riders, the team has been working wonders

by participating in the two major championships in the

USA: the WORCS ATV Series and the AMA ATV MX

Championship!

Out of the 5 rounds run (2 in AMA and 3 in Worcs),

4 have been won by Canam! Last weekend, at

the Lake Havasu round, Jeremy Warnia and Josh

Frederick even did better by pulling off a double win. In

championships too, Canam riders are in the forefront.

4TH

The fourth and last round of the Ice Racing World

Championship has just been held in Inzell, Germany,

at the new Max-Aicher arena. In all, no less than 6,500

spectators witnessed on 26 and 27 March the sacra-

lisation of Nikolai Krasnikov who has been supported

by Motul for many years.

By winning ahead of two of his compatriots, the

Russian rider not only clinched his seventh World

Champion title but also proved he remained the

unquestionable master of the sport.

Willowbank Raceway hosted on 25 and 26 March

an extraordinary event, to say the least, the Top Fuel

Championship, top fuel dragsters being fed by a spe-

cic mixture of 90% nitromethane and 10% methanol.

Apart from being extremely impressive, this category

of dragster is also the fastest, some of these racing

cars being capable of reaching more than 500 km/h

and covering 400 metres (standing start) in less than

4.5 seconds!

For the occasion, Top RPM Motorsport, an Austra-

lian sports and racing car preparer and also Motuls

stockist, had decided to place on the start line a 2004

Toyota Celica tted with a prepared Toyota engine

(2JZGTE base). At the wheel of this racing car, now

developing more than 1,700 hp, Graig Dyson won the

Super Compact category after successively elimina-

ting Ben Bray, Spelman, and then Harvey in the nal.

Cody Cooper /Team Rockstar Motul Suzuki /Suzuki

Cody Cooper couldnt have dreamt for a better sce-

nario at the fourth and last round of the New Zealand

National Championship season held close to New

Plymouth on 27 March! Indeed, after winning race 1

and taking the lead in the general standings on the

same occasion, the Rockstar Motul Suzuki team ri-

der claimed the 2011 crown by winning the last two

rounds of the day. A result which brings to three the

total number of rounds won by the rider during the

season.

Turning to MX2, there was a slight disappointment

however for Daniel McCoy, as he didnt manage to

secure a title that was nevertheless within his reach.

The New Zealand Motocross Championship over, the

two riders are going to concentrate on the Australian

Motocross Championship of which the second round

will be held at Appin on 3 April. Most eyes will of cour-

se be on Cody Cooper, currently second in the Pro

Open Class.
