The Halloween party was a great success. The children had a great time. A lot of hard work goes into planning and creating this event. I would like to thank our Youth Ministry volunteers for their efforts. A very special thank you goes to two extraordinary people who are so dedicated to the youth of our parish community; Mr Vinny Nerone and our Youth minister, Mr Kenny Wodzanowski……..thank you. Our Youth Ministry is sending pilgrims to World Youth Day in Panama, thanks to the generosity of this parish community. Nov 16th there will be a special event called “A Night to be Thankful “ to support our Homeless Outreach pro-gram………… All of these wonderful events in our parish remind us of how much we put our faith into action; the driving force is one simple word, love. When we get right down to it, what is the most im-portant dimension of our faith? Upon what foundation does Christianity rest? In the Gospel today Jesus gives us this answer; it is “love.” This love has three facets, Love of God, Love of neighbor, and Love of self. We love God because God is the most supreme and most infinite goodness. Love of God not only commands love of neighbor, but it even produces and pours love of neighbor into our hearts. Why should we love ourselves? Simply and profoundly because we are God’s image and likeness; if we fail to love ourselves, how can we possibly love our neighbor who is not only made in God’s image, but who is fundamentally made in the image and likeness of us since we all come from the same source – God himself. We are called, as Disciples of Christ to live our lives emulating the love of Jesus. The fullness of Christian perfection – the fullness of living Christ’s life – can be likened to a three-legged table. The legs are the three facets of love. If any one of the three loves of our lives; God, self and others is deficient, all three will suffer and we cannot hope to carry the weight of God’s com-mand for us to build up His Kingdom here on earth. We could not continue to bring the Gospel message to others. The Beatles said it best in a song written over 50years ago, “All You Need is Love, Love is all You Need.”

All ARE WELCOME AT ST. DOMINIC

Are you a sinner? Have you been away from the Church for a long time? Are you divorced or separated? Are you physically or mentally challenged? Are you from a different culture? Are you not accepted because of your sexual orientation? Are you elderly, a teen or young adult? Are you discriminated against because of your color? Are you feeling broken? Are you poor or out of work? Have you been im-prisoned? Have you a feeling that you are left out? You are welcome here! This is your

It’s National Vocations Awareness Week! As Catholics, we firmly believe that God has a plan for our lives! He calls some to mar-riage, some to the priesthood, and others to religious life. Some remain as generous single people. Fully living our own vocations - and teaching young people how to discern God’s call - is a serious duty, but also a joy-ful one. Today begins National vocation Awareness Week. During this week, please pray about how God is calling you to live your vocation more deeply. Encourage the young people in your life - children, grandchildren, stu-dents, and friends - to be open if God calls them to priesthood or consecrated life. The Main Catholic Vocations A vocation is a call from God to pursue holi-ness in a specific way, involving a public and permanent commitment. Marriage: Most people are called to mar-riage - a vowed union of a man and woman who promise to love their spouses and to joyfully welcome children. Priesthood: Priests bring Jesus to people and people to Jesus through preaching and the sacraments. They are ordained to de-vote their lives to serve the people of God. Consecrated Life: Both men and women make vows of poverty, chastity, and obedi-ence when they join orders such as the Franciscans, Benedictines, Dominicans, etc.

Gospel: Mark 12:28b-34 One of the scribes came to Jesus and asked him, “Which is the first of all the commandments?” Je-sus replied, “The first is this: Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is Lord alone! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second is this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these.” The scribe said to him, “Well said, teacher. You are right in saying, ‘He is one and there is no other then he.’ And ‘to love him with all your heart, with all your understanding, with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself ‘ is worth more than all burnt offerings and sacrific-es.” And when Jesus saw that he answered with un-derstanding, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And no one dared to ask him any more questions. The Gospel of the Lord. —————————————————— READINGS FOR THE WEEK Monday: Phil 2:1-4; Ps 131:1bcde-3; Lk 14:12-14 Tuesday: Phil 2:5-11; Ps 22:26b-30ab, 30e, 31-32; Lk 14:15-24 Wednesday: Phil 2:12-18; Ps 27:1, 4, 13-14; Lk 14:25-33 Thursday: Phil 3:3-8a; Ps 105:2-7; Lk 15:1-10 Friday: Ez 47:1-2, 8-9, 12; Ps 46:2-3, 5-6, 8-9; 1 Cor 3:9c-11, 16-17; Jn 2:13-22 Saturday: Phil 4:10-19; Ps 112:1b-2, 5-6, 8a, 9; Lk 16:9-15 Sunday: 1 Kgs 17:10-16; Ps 146:7-10; Heb 9:24-28; Mk 12:38-44 [41-44]
