Initial testing of the mechanism on an already opened pack.
The seal was too strong to open the existing packaging; this was down to too much adhesion over a large area.
Experimenting with different forms to make the initial opening easier.

Slide function is effortless, especially helpful for people with limited dexterity.
Resealing prolongs the bacon’s freshness and increases lifetime. Also acts as protection from contamination by other foods in the fridge.
Removes the need of household kitchen film.
Reduces the likelihood of food waste.
The new form makes the customer curious, therefore drawing them in to investigate.
Clear communication about material separation and recycling is located on the underside of the sleeve.
Specifically, for the size of the ‘Unsmoked Back Bacon’, approximately 21 packs could be transported in one BOC crate.
Easily manipulated to suit the various types/sizes of bacon cuts.
The design could be modified to package other meats or even other types of food, for example, cheeses, cured meats, flatbreads, pate.
