Grading Policy

• Assessments – 50%• Quizzes – 25%• Homework – 15%• Classwork – 10%

LATE WORK

*The earned percentage grade will be reduced by 10% for each day the work is late for three days. (Example: If a student earns an 80% on the assignment and it is one day late, the final grade will equal a 70%, with two days late, 60%, and three days late, 50%.)

• *After three school days, late work will no longer be accepted.

• *For AP classes, late work will not be accepted. • *Absentee late work will follow district guidelines.

AP, Honors, and CP

• Each English class is designed to advance student writing skills, knowledge of literary terms, and ability to read prose and poetry critically.

• Annotation of text – encourages exploration and legitimate reading of texts, self-evaluation

• Literary Analysis – uses the elements of literature to argue thesis statements based on a more in-depth interpretation of text

synthesize with the ideas of others to amend conclusions
