Once you have done this you will see the prezi.com home page. You will need to go to sign up.

You should then see the following registration screen. Fill in the appropriate information and “Agree to the Terms of Service.” You may view the “Learn Prezi Now” which is a very brief tutorial. After, select “Start Using Prezi now”

Close the Start. The following screen should appear. Click anywhere on the screen with your mouse. Write the title of your presentation.

Once you click on the screen a title box will appear. Type the name of your presentation. You can change the Font to blue by selecting the blue “Title” Button. You can center your text or move it to the left or right using the format buttons.

Narration:

Select “Colors and Frames” from the Writing Menu in the upper right hand corner. Pre selected themes appear. If you prefer, create your own by selecting “Theme Wizard”. A menu like the one above will appear and you can select the color of your first titles, circles, brackets, arrows, markers, and so on. Always preview your work to make sure text is visible on background.

Now select “Insert”. This will allow you to attach images, You Tube Videos, and documents that will help one understand your revolution. To add an image select “Image”. You will have two options. You may insert images from “Your Computer” or “Search the Web.” Please use the images from your research that you saved to your computer and cited. Then if time permits add more by searching.

Narration:

To find images type in the topic. I typed Battle of Trenton and multiple options appear. Once you have selected one you like choose “OK” and the image will load to your page. To move the image click on the image, left click on the mouse and drag it the best spot. You can always delete pictures by right clicking on the image and choosing “Delete”. Try to space images and titles out as much as possible. This will be very important when we use the “Path” function in Prezi later on.

Prezi has a huge canvas for creating your presentation. To view your available space zoom out using the Zoom – sign in the center right of your screen.

Periodically, Prezi will automatically save. You can always save at any point by selecting “Saved at…”.

Narration:

To insert videos from YouTube select the You Tube Icon from the Insert Menu. Paste the link into the URL box and select insert. Always make sure you preview the entire video footage to make sure it is appropriate for your project. The video I am embedding is about the Declaration of Independence and how its words reflect the ideals of the Revolution. Do not insert videos for the sake of having videos.

If you notice your titles need to be enlarged to compare in size to your video or images simply click on the title and you will get the Title Menu. Use the Up Arrow to make text bigger and the Down Arrow to make text smaller.

To create animation for your titles click on the title and turn the wheel by holding down the left button on the Mouse and turning with the arrow. You will not be able to see the motion of the text until you are in preview/presentation mode.

To insert a URL link click anywhere on the screen. A text box will appear. Paste the URL in the textbox. Select “OK”.

Narration:

You can insert Word document, Power Point Files, and so on by selecting the Insert Menu and “files.” You must have your word and ppt files saved as PDF before uploading. To do that open the file, go to “File Save Type” and in the drop down File box select “PDF”. When you select Files your desktop, student account, and document will appear. Double Click on the Document you would like to add. While its loading it will say Processing Media. All slides appear separate.

You will need to decide what order each component of your presentation will viewed? Should they read the files first? Look at images? To determine the order select “Path” and the following menu will appear. Click on whatever you would like to appear first. In this case, the title, American Revolution. A number one appears on the title. Select what you would like to appear next and a number 2 will appear. Notice a path forming. Number ALL media or it won’t be in the presentation.

Narration:

To preview your Prezi select “Show” and “Full Screen”. The Prezi will start to play in order you selected in Path. Check to make sure everything is viewable, works, and so on. Use the arrows in the lower right and corner to move forward and back words. The arrows go away during the prezi. To get them back annotate over the lower right screen and they will reappear. The box icon in the lower right hand screen will take you to your main page. You can get out of the full screen mode by selecting ESC. If you need to do more editing, move your mouse over the upper right of the screen and the write options should reappear.

Scroll down and select “Public”. It may take awhile for this process to occur. Once it is created make note of the URL link. You will need this to provide to the teacher.
