When this pandemic began, teachers were given little notice to shift very quickly to distance learning. They had to modify their teaching techniques in the blink of an eye. They had to quickly adapt their teaching to suit the online platform, with no playbook to guide them. The school management did their best to quickly give the teachers some training and also put them through workshops. Our teachers at The Choice School took this on as a mission and have accomplished beyond expectations.

Teaching during this coronavirus pandemic is so removed from the typical. Nothing done before has prepared teachers for this role. They had to reinvent lessons for an already planned curriculum, learn new technologies, find non-technology solutions to student learning, and figure out how to keep students engaged in the Zoom classroom. They are using innovative ideas to encourage students to attend online classes with more zeal and vigour. Teachers are creating history! Years from now, 2020 will be remembered as the year we all learned to live life at a distance from each other and yet continue to function as a contagious society.

How do we even begin to appreciate and thank our teachers in this current situation? Mr Jose Thomas, our President took the initiative to bestow appreciation on our frontline teachers. In association with the IIHM, three of our Kinderland teachers were selected for their commitment and positivity in these difficult times to impart knowledge and learning to The Choice Kinderland tiny tots and they were conferred the ‘Teacher Warrior Award’ on Teachers Day by our Principal Mr. Ajith Jacob.

Let us celebrate their achievement and pledge to carry forward the great work we have all done these past few months. Congratulations to not just the winners but to all the teachers who are working tirelessly to ensure that learning continues and no child is left behind because of this pandemic!
