Friday March 15 th 2019 “Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.” - Charles R. Swindoll This week, we explore the virtue of kindness. Kindness is showing others we care and doing something to make their lives better. Kindness is being thoughtful about perople’s needsand showing compassion to people who are sad or require help. Being kind is also taking the time to treat ourselves well. Please consider taking a few minutes to discuss being kind with your child/ren over the next week. Today we farewell Mrs Alana Fitchen who has accepted the acting position of Principal Education Officer Student Services, working out of the Rockhampton Office of the Department of Education. The work Alana and her Neighbourhood Centre Team have undertaken over the past few years has set her in excellent stead to lead the agenda of inclusion across the Rockhampton and Gladstone geographic areas. A statewide process will soon be underway to recruit and select an acting Head of Inclusion for the remainder of 2019. Please join me in congratulating Alana on this wonderful opportunity to extend her leadership capability. Following the Autumn Vacation, Ms Dianne Stace will be taking leave for the remainder of 2019. Mrs Lyn O’Farrell will assume Ms Stace’s role of Head of Reading in her absence. A recruitment process for an additional Classroom Teacher for Year 2/3O for the remainder of the year is currently under way. Ms Stace is commended and congratulated for the outstanding work she has undertaken in making reading front and centre, inspiring learners to develop a positive attuitude and enjoyment of reading and developing the capability of Staff to deliver quality and consistent reading programs through coaching, modelling and support. If you see Ms Stace during her remaining time with us, please consider thanking Ms Stace for the amazing work she has done on behalf of your child/ren. Next week is Good News Week, the one week each Term we devote to sharing good news. If you have some good news and feedback to pass on, Staff would love to hear from you. This week, we explore the virtue of kindness. Kindness is showing others we care and

doing something to make their lives better. Kindness is being thoughtful about perople’s

needsand showing compassion to people who are sad or require help. Being kind is

also taking the time to treat ourselves well. Please consider taking a few minutes to

Today we farewell Mrs Alana Fitchen who has accepted the acting position of Principal

Education Officer Student Services, working out of the Rockhampton Office of the

Department of Education. The work Alana and her Neighbourhood Centre Team have

undertaken over the past few years has set her in excellent stead to lead the agenda

to extend her leadership capability.

Following the Autumn Vacation, Ms Dianne Stace will be taking leave for the remainder

of 2019. Mrs Lyn O’Farrell will assume Ms Stace’s role of Head of Reading in her absence.

A recruitment process for an additional Classroom Teacher for Year 2/3O for the

remainder of the year is currently under way. Ms Stace is commended and

congratulated for the outstanding work she has undertaken in making reading front

and centre, inspiring learners to develop a positive attuitude and enjoyment of reading

and developing the capability of Staff to deliver quality and consistent reading

programs through coaching, modelling and support. If you see Ms Stace during her

remaining time with us, please consider thanking Ms Stace for the amazing work she

The end of our first fifty days of

learning at the end of Term One

is celebrated with our annual

Easter Hat Parade on Friday April

05th 2019 in the Assembly Area.

Specific information will soon be

sent out by Neighbourhood

Teacher Teams regarding the creation of hats.

The Easter Hat Parade commences at 2:00 p.m. and

concludes by 2:45 p.m. in time for our learners to

catch the Estate Buses. As in all past years, this is an

event for all learners and staff to participate in.

Parents, Carers and friends of the school are always

encouraged to attend this colourful and creative

parade of hats.

Every year, Parkhurst State

School has it’s annual Cross

Country and Fun Run during

the last week of Term One for

all learners from Prep to Year

Six. This year, this popular

event will be held on

Wednesday April 03rd 2019,

commencing at 9:00 a.m. All classes will assemble

with their teachers after classroom rolls have been

marked in the Assembly Area, before parading to

the Oval in the Sports Houses, led by the Sports

House Captains.

All learners are encouraged to wear their Sports

Shirts on the day. All parents and carers are

encouraged to attend and support their child/ren

and even take part if able and willing. As in previous

years, the course is marked through the school and

is completed as four events in Neighbourhoods. At

the end of the Fun Run, all participating learners will

receive a refreshment.

Two weeks ago, all families would have received

sponsorship booklets, with some options for the

collection of money, including online. There are also

some great prizes on offer for fundraising milestones.

A flyer outlining the prizes available is once again

included in this Newsletter.

All Sponsorship Forms and money is due on Monday

April 01st 2019 to the Office, with a final collection

date of Thursday April 04th 2019. Last year, around

$6 000 was raised. A big thank you goes out to Mr
