Mrs Domenica Defilippis RETIREMENT Monday’s assembly was special as we celebrated, recognised and acknowledged the contribution that Mrs Defilippis has made to education and to Meadow Heights Primary School. Mrs Defilippis began her teaching career in 1985 at Albanvale PS, in 1990 at Coolaroo Primary and commenced working at Meadow Heights PS in 1992. At MHPS she was a classroom teacher, team leader, leading teacher and since 2008 she has been an Assistant Principal. Mrs Defilippis has been at MHPS for 26 years. Mrs Defilippis is a valued staff member and we will really miss her. The students, their families and all the staff of our school community thank Mrs Defilippis for her ongoing contribution to the school and wish her a wonderful retirement and hope she will keep in touch with us. STUDENT ATTENDANCE The Education Department requires all schools to contact parents/guardians on the day of a student’s absence when the student absence is unexplained. This will help ensure the safety of school-aged children during school hours and ensure that schools are supported in their duty of care obligations. To this end we have employed an Attendance Officer Mrs Josie Falani and an Attendance Consultant Ms Zita Pinda. Together they will assist teachers and support parents and families in promoting students attending school every day. Mrs Josie Falani will ring home on the day a student is absent. Parent Opinion Survey 2018

WE WANT OUR PARENTS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents think of our school. The Parent Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education and Training that is conducted amongst a sample of randomly selected parents at each school. It is designed to assist our school in gaining an understanding of parents’ perception of school climate, student engagement and relationships with our parent community. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies. The survey will be conducted online by ORIMA Research Pty Ltd and only takes 15 minutes to complete. The survey can be accessed via desktop computer, laptop, tablet or mobile at any convenient time within the fieldwork period from Monday 23rd July to Sunday 19th August. Approximately 30% per cent of parents will be invited to participate in this year’s survey. All responses to the survey are anonymous. The online survey is available in English, Arabic, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Chin (Hakha) and Hindi. The survey results will be reported back to our school at the end of September. Mixed Netball Finals.

On Friday the 20th July, the mixed netball team travelled to Sunbury to play in the regional finals. They qualified for these finals by finishing top of the ladder and undefeated in the term two mixed netball competition. On the day they played in 3 matches against St Anne’s, Willmott Park and Gladstone Park.

Unfortunately they weren’t able to come home with a win but were very competitive and played with great sportsmanship and tried their very best. A fun day was had by all involved. Congratulations Ali Natapu, Isaiah Natapu Siaosi, Vuti Vaasili, Genesis Tanuvasa,

Ismal Taleb, Laith El-Chami, Matthew Shabo, Sopo Galu and Huda Khaled on a great season of netball.

Khảo Sat ý kiến phụ huynh năm 2018 Chung Tôi Muôn Phu Huynh Noi Cho Chung Tôi Biêt Nhưng Gi Phu Huynh Nghi Nha trường đang tiến hành một cuộc khảo sát để tìm hiểu xem phụ huynh nghĩ gì về trường của chúng tôi. okulda bilgisayarin rastgele olarak seçtiği aileler tarafindan dolduracaği bir anket yapilacaktir. Okulumuzun geleceğe yönelik planlama ve gelişim
