What are the Core Democratic Values?

Each person has the right to their life and to protect

his or her life. No one has the right to take away a person’s life except in extreme circumstances, i.e. in protection of their own life.

Example: A man has a gun pointed at you, you may take his life in order to protect your own or the life of a loved one!

Life

Liberty is considered an unalterable aspect of the human

condition.

The central idea here is that the ideas of others, including ancestors, cannot be forced on people.

Liberty includes personal freedoms like individuals are free to act, think and believe as they like without interference from the government.

People have the right to elect government officials and remove those who are not performing their duties.

There is a right to the free flow of information and ideas, open debate and the right to assembly.

There is a right to economic freedom, the right to

acquire, dispose, use and transfer private property without unreasonable government interference.

The right to choose employment and to change employment whenever and wherever one chooses.

To engage in any lawful economic activity.

It is the right of American citizens to attempt to “pursue” happiness in their own way, so long as they do not infringe upon the rights of others!

People should work together for the good of all.

The government should make laws that are good for everyone.

We should all promote the welfare of the community and work together to benefit all.

Common Good

All people should be treated fairly in getting the

advantages and disadvantages of our country. No group or person should be favored.

Justice

Everyone should get the same treatment regardless

of where you, your parents, or grandparents were born, your race, your religion, or how much money you have.

All people have social, political, and economic equality.

Equality

Diversity is accepted and seen as important in our

society.

Differences in dress, race, religion, food, and were a person was born are reasons to celebrate.

Our differences are what make our country unique and interesting!

The USA is a melting pot of world cultures!!!!

Diversity

We can demand the truth from our government, and

our government is barred from lying to us.

Trust and veracity of government constitutes an essential element of the bond between the governed and the governors.

The power of the government comes from the

people! (A government of the people, by the people and for the people!)
