MR918 Repeater

Andrew MR918 gives designers asimple tool to solve their small area 900 MHz GSM coverage and perform-ance issues.

The MR918 is a bi-directional amplifierused to enhance signals between amobile and a base station in a 900 MHz GSM network. It has beendesigned to increase signal strength insmall and medium sized areas such asoffices, shops, and basements.

By boosting the signal level the MR918increases indoor coverage and allowshigh data rate connectivity.

The MR918 is easy to install. Also aweb-based LMT simplifies to commissionand configure the equipment. The RF link(donor) towards the base station is typi-cally fed from an outdoor antenna whilethe coverage area is fed by an indoorantenna. The design of the amplifiermaintains the CEPT limit of -36 dBm. Theopportunity to adjust the passband ofrepeater helps to cover any specific seg-ment of GSM900 frequency band.

Due to modular design the single variaversion MR918 can be extended to atriple varia segment or a dual bandvaria version in one cabinet.

Auto-setup functionality enables automat-ic gain adjustment in order to maximizethe performance, however gain may beset manually if desired. An alarm inter-face with LEDs indicates the status of theequipment locally.

The MR918 has an optional remotemonitor function that provides equipmentalarming via a GSM-SMS. Alarm SMSs(including heart beat) can be sent to thecommon Andrew OMC or to any stan-dard SMS receiver (even a mobilephone). Moreover the MR918 can beconnected to LAN.
