Mythtopic Presentation
HERCULES
The birth of HerculesHis father was
Zeus, which angered his wife Hera.
Hera attempted to kill him with snakes, but he strangled them both. He was just a baby.
The Twelve LaborsHera, since she
hated Heracles, drove him mad. He killed his own family.
In order to make up for his sins, he went to work for his cousin, King Eurystheus.
Labor 1: The Nemean LionThe Lion had
supernatural parents, and could not be killed by weapons
Heracles killed him in hand to hand combat, by strangulation
Heracles wears the lion skin as a cloak
Labor 2: The HydraThe Hydra was a
fierce, many-headed monster.
2 heads grew back for every 1 chopped off
Heracles cauterized each wound to prevent head re-growth
Labor 3: The Cerynitian DeerSacred to Artemis,
the virgin goddess of the moon and hunting
Hercules chased it for a whole year.
Pinned it down, didn’t kill it
Labor 4: The Erymanthian BoarHad to bring it
back aliveForced into a snow
bankCarried it back on
his shoulderA Centaur was
accidentally killed
Labor 5: The Augean StablesHad to do it in one

Heracles scared them, then shot them out of the air

caused to fall in love with this bull, and the Minotaur was the result
Breathed flamesHerc caught it ,
and shipped it back to the mainland
Labor 8:The Mares of Diomedes
Ate people who made mistake of stopping at Diomedes’ house
Herc fed Diomedes to them
Captured them
Labor 9: Hippolyte’s BeltAmazons – a race
of warrior women, invented horesback combat
Hippolyte was queen, willingly gave Herc the belt
Hera caused the Amazons to attack
Labor 10: Cattle of GeryonGuarded by
Eurytion and his 2 headed dog
Herc killed the dog and the giant with his club, and led the cattle to back home.
