The Mabuting Pilipino Movement (Good Filipino Citizenship
Movement) is a multi-sectoral, cultural anti-corruption and good
citizenship movement that has recently beenlaunched in the
Philippines. It seeks to reaffirm and nurture good Filipino
citizenship values,like truth-telling, bayanihan, concern for
fellowmen and women, and love of country.
Taking part of this movement are youth organizations in the
Philippines who are part of theGYAC and ANSA-EAP Philippine
network, such as the Student Council Alliance of thePhilippines and
the SK (Village Council) Reform Coalition. Various
studentorganizations from different schools have come together in a
movement for MabutingPilipino.
MPM Youth, the youth arm of this organization, will be holding
the First Youth AgainstCorruption Youth Camp on May 27, 2011 at the
Colegio de San Juan de Letran. Thisevent aims to gather a
considerable mass of young people and their organizations
tocomprise a significant and critical portion of the current
administrations reformconstituency. Specifically, the movement aims
to achieve the following:1. Convene young people and their
organizations.2. Publicly launch young peoples initiatives against
corruption.3. Formulate a strategic plan for the youth movement
against corruption.
This will bring together students from different schools in
Metro Manila andneighboring provinces to share with us their
passion through a youth friendly fair andconcert. We are also
expecting the presence of President Benigno Aquino and Ms.
RisaHontiveros-Baraquel. Moreover, we are anticipating 1000-1300
participants from differentschools and organizations.
